Shalimar Parfum Initial

Shalimar Parfum Initial the perfume by Guerlain Thierry Wasser brings the beautiful Shalimar back to life for the new millennium. Shalimar was born in 1925 from the talents of Jacques Guerlain. Inspired by the Indian legend of the creation of the Taj Mahal, the perfumer composed with the brand new vanillin an oriental fragrance that would leave its mark as much as it would mark the history of perfumery.

Thierry Wasser and Sylvaine Delacourte would add their stone to this perfumed palace by daring to successfully offer a powdery sequel to this saga, which would be called Shalimar Parfum Initial.

Shalimar Parfum Initial or the second youth of a legendary perfume

Shalimar and its thoroughly oriental universe offered postwar women an enchanted and thoroughly feminine interlude. Built on an animalic and very floral base, Shalimar enchanted the noses of all the most beautiful women in the world from its birth to today. A true perfumed myth, it took until 2011 and the talents of Thierry Wasser to finally see a new opus born from its bottle with Shalimar Parfum Initial.

Shalimar Parfum Initial might seem to offer a return to the source of Jacques Guerlain's inspiration, yet it does nothing of the sort. Quite the contrary, Shalimar Parfum Initial innovates by finally offering a version of Shalimar more accessible to young women; the story goes that Thierry Wasser composed it for his niece, who wanted “her” Shalimar.

As a result, the composition of Shalimar Parfum Initial, along with its advertising presentation, would evolve, and the very feminine image of the legendary Shalimar would be represented for this beautiful flanker by an innocent and seductive young woman. Yet despite this new youth, Shalimar Parfum Initial has nothing to envy in its precious elder, so much does it exhale its most beautiful facets without betraying it.

When iris becomes the star of Shalimar Parfum Initial

If vanillin was the star component of Shalimar, given how novel it was at the time, for Shalimar Parfum Initial it remains present but is upstaged at heart by a precious iris. Thus Shalimar Parfum Initial continually shifts, to our great pleasure, between floral notes and amber notes, between fresh and innocent impulses and a nascent sensuality.

The top notes of Shalimar Parfum Initial are entirely faithful to its famous ancestor, which already displayed for its era a dynamic overdose of citrus notes. As for its heart, it still presents wonderful notes of jasmine and rose, which for this modern version are colored with a few candied fruits but above all with a powdery cloud of iris. Finally, the woody gourmand qualities of the depths of this Shalimar Parfum Initial still present the famous vanilla note so emblematic of the 1925 Shalimar. However, tonka bean and caramel blend with patchouli and amber to offer the young woman of this new Shalimar an extra touch of gourmand character.

Shalimar Parfum Initial is built around four raw materials cherished by Guerlain's creators: rose, iris, vanilla, and tonka bean. These four raw materials are also part of the famous Guerlinade, the sensual seal of Guerlain's creations. That certain something that gives Guerlain perfumes their highly identifiable style.
