The name of the house was chosen somewhat by chance, because Armand Petitjean wanted a French-sounding name that would rhyme with “Place Vendôme”… Today, the house is credited with great perfumes that have become cult classics, such as La vie est Belle, Magnifique, Trésor, and Magie Noire. In 2005, the house unveiled Hypnose. This spellbinding fragrance marks the house's 50th perfume… A rather bewitching anniversary!

As its name suggests, Hypnose is a spellbinding fragrance; it fascinates and attracts without limits. Hypnose was imagined to make a woman even more sensual than she already is, thereby increasing her power of seduction. To achieve this particular attraction of Hypnose, the composition features an unprecedented accord of vanilla and vetiver. Hypnose opens with the invigorating and airy notes of bergamot. These combine with notes of passion fruit and heliotrope. The heart is composed of Sambac jasmine and sun-kissed notes. The vetiver in the base note brings a robust, but above all unexpected, character, as it is an ingredient usually found in men's fragrances. The vanilla then contrasts with the vetiver notes, offering a soft and sensual dimension. As for the bottle, it is rather original. The nectar is presented in a pure, understated, yet complex setting. With a fascinating, avant-garde look, the bottle is in fact a tribute to the perfume Magie, released in 1950. Its bottle was inspired by the silhouette of a Japanese woman. Too complicated for the time, the Magie bottle could not be kept as originally planned. Today, the Hypnose bottle, now a feminine jewel, is in fact a true architectural challenge.
