Shalimar Souffle de Lumière

Shalimar is an outrageously sensual and carnal perfume, still perfectly relevant today, while carrying within it a unique heritage. Guerlain has now decided to make it more radiant. Shalimar still speaks to us of love but delivers the splendor of a new story. It is now called Shalimar Souffle de Lumière and puts the emphasis on one of the most famous flowers in women's perfumery: jasmine.

Jasmine at the heart of Guerlain's new composition

Shalimar Souffle de Lumière is a radiant composition, both warm and sensual. Its opening remains fresh and highlights the invigorating breath of bergamot. Then, its heart reveals the central element of its recipe: a more enveloping jasmine, paired with the exoticism of ylang-ylang. This floral and luminous note ultimately develops into a more syrupy base. Madagascar vanilla completes the whole with its delicious sun-kissed scent. Through this perfume, Thierry Wasser, Guerlain's official perfumer, decided to celebrate jasmine, one of his favorite notes. To do so, he did not hesitate to explore the world in search of the purest varieties of this flower. After all, nothing is too beautiful to reinterpret the legend of Guerlain...

Shalimar Souffle de Lumière is dressed in a pearlescent bottle

Shalimar Souffle de Lumière is a juice inspired by one of the most beautiful Indian love stories. In the seventeenth century, Emperor Shah Jahan was hopelessly in love with one of his wives, Mumtaz Mahal. Upon her death, he decided to have the most beautiful of mausoleums built in the gardens where they had let their love speak. This is how the Taj Mahal was built in the middle of the gardens of Shalimar. The bottle of Shalimar Souffle de Lumière draws heavily on the building for inspiration. Its white-colored bottle recalls the coating that covers the walls of this famous building. The blue color, meanwhile, represents the water that fills its fountains. Together they form a basin on a chiseled pedestal. In fact, the bottle of Shalimar Souffle de Lumière has exactly the same silhouette as its predecessors. It is a basin on a chiseled pedestal that won first prize at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris in 1925, the year of its release.

The other versions of Shalimar

While the very first version of Shalimar was born in 1925, it has since been very widely reinterpreted. Initially, it was a bold perfume that inaugurated the oriental family of fragrances. In 2008, it became l'Eau de Shalimar, turning into a livelier, sparkling fragrance. Shalimar Souffle de Parfum from 2014, for its part, was a brighter floral. In 2015, Shalimar Cologne further strengthened its freshness and transparency. Finally, the latest Shalimar Souffle Intense from 2017 revealed the power of a very green sambac jasmine drawn directly from Indian flavors.
