When Marie Salamagne and Olivier Cresp bring the sparkling Nina Rouge to life
Since the beginning of my career, I have constantly sought to translate this appetite for life, this gourmand character, into my accords. I also think that a creative perfumer is inevitably epicurean, perfumer Olivier Cresp told Madame le Figaro.
Olivier Cresp is a lover of gourmand scents, so much so that it was through his utterly singular creation for Angel by Mugler in the 1990s that he created this new olfactory family, which would go on to dominate much of women's perfumery in the new millennium. And it is precisely in this spirit of addiction and indulgence that he created, alongside Jacques Cavellier, the lovely and sparkling Nina in 2006, which would tell us of fruity delights and hints of vanilla and caramel, making our hearts waver and plunging us straight into intense gourmand character.
With Nina Rouge in 2019, Olivier Cresp, this time joined by Marie Salamagne, took his attachment to gourmand character even further by pairing it with sharp freshness and delicate flowers to offer even more contrast. What's more, carried by a candy apple with an almost indecent lacquered red hue of temptation, it is impossible not to bite into the Nina Rouge candy apple!
Ginger flower and gardenia are beautifully showcased in Nina Rouge
The original composition of Nina opened on fresh citrus before offering a veritable fruit basket composed of apple, raspberries and strawberries. Jasmine and rose wrapped these fruity notes in their timeless femininity, while praline, caramel and vanilla closed this Nina with an intense, sensual gourmand character.
For Nina Rouge, the gourmand character has been pushed to its extreme, while this new composition has visibly been built around the contrast between freshness and sensuality, between delicate flowers and fruits. Nina Rouge thus opens first and foremost on fresh and lively bursts of fresh citron zest accompanied by a lovely note of creamy raspberry. Then gardenia offers its feminine opulence to the heart of this Nina Rouge, while ginger flower becomes both delicate and icy, and highly distinctive. Finally, in the depths, the burning and deeply gourmand voluptuousness of Nina has been preserved between the splendor of vanilla and the sweet, almost childlike roundness of caramel.
