Angel Nova

Angel Nova, an eau de parfum launched by Mugler in 2020, reinterprets Angel in a fruity, floral and woody key. Sonia Constant, Louise Turner and Quentin Bisch pair an overdose of raspberry and lychee with a Damask rose obtained by double extraction and a structure of akigalawood and benzoin. The refillable star bottle shifts from blue to raspberry pink.

A new star, thirty years after Angel

Nearly thirty years after Angel, Mugler introduced Angel Nova in 2020, which the house dedicates to daring women who make their dreams come true. The fragrance is among the first Mugler creations released under L’Oréal, which took over the license from Clarins in 2019.

Three perfumers signed it: Sonia Constant, Louise Turner and Quentin Bisch. The house describes it as a fruity, floral and woody eau de parfum, born from the meeting of a fruity delight, an exclusive rose and vivid, modern woods.

Three facets

Mugler breaks the fragrance down into three facets. The first rests on an overdose of raspberry, softened by lychee. The second features a Damask rose enhanced by double extraction, blended with a novel rose obtained through upcycling and biotechnology.

The third brings contrast: a woody structure of akigalawood and benzoin, which the house presents as the assertive side of the fragrance, meant to give it character against the gourmand fruit.

A pink star

The bottle keeps the asymmetrical star, Mugler’s emblem, but Angel’s translucent blue gives way to a luminous raspberry pink. Like its elder’s, it is refillable.

What critics say

Jessica (Now Smell This) finds Angel Nova flirty and cheeky, with a brief family resemblance to Angel; Persolaise sees it as Angel on a diet, more appealing than expected but with little that is new.

Toni Garrn, a modern heroine

German model Toni Garrn lends her image to Angel Nova, a modern heroine whom Mugler places between dream, fantasy and reality.

To embody Angel Nova, Mugler chose German model Toni Garrn, who joins the line of Angel faces begun by Estelle Lefébure in 1992. The house makes her the modern heroine of its universe, at the crossroads of dream, fantasy and reality.
