Where to buy
Presented in a star-shaped bottle, the Angel fragrance has stood as one of the best-sellers in world perfumery since its release in 1998. The first gourmand fragrance in history, it has since given rise to numerous reinterpretations of its scent. Once again, Thierry Mugler takes us with him on a new adventure. So, what about the new Angel Eau Croisière 2020?
A look back at Thierry Mugler's Angel saga
Before anything else, in order to better understand this new fragrance, it is important to go back in time and set the scene for the iconic Angel fragrance. In the early 90s, Thierry Mugler had a particularly innovative idea: to create a gourmand fragrance that one would almost want to bite into! He then met with the refusal of many perfumers who declined to craft a fragrance that was too sweet. Only Olivier Cresp agreed to take up the challenge. Together with Thierry Mugler, they brought about a small revolution. Angel was the very first gourmand fragrance, and can boast of having paved the way for numerous compositions. Today, gourmand fragrances rank among women's favorites. This is why, to satisfy their insatiable desire for sweetness, Angel reinvents its scent year after year, and even several times a year.
Angel Eau Croisière 2020, a new journey to an exotic land
Angel Eau Croisière 2020 follows a great many predecessors. As usual, it is presented in a star-shaped glass bottle, a genuine technical feat, designed by Thierry Mugler himself. On the occasion of the release of Angel Eau Croisière 2020, this bottle trades its iconic bluish hue for a more nuanced color, forming a sort of rainbow. Here, the idea is to evoke an exotic sky at dusk. The green brings to mind the color of palm trees or lush vegetation. The pink resembles the sky ablaze when the last rays of sunlight still light up paradise islands. The blue, meanwhile, resembles the ocean stretching out toward the horizon.
Angel Eau Croisière 2020 differs from its predecessors but unmistakably preserves their gourmand character. This can be noticed as early as the top notes. It opens with a highly appetizing breath of fig nectar. Almost candied, this fruit gives way to a more floral heart of magnolia. Then, the iconic signature of the Angel collection comes to close out this recipe. Angel Eau Croisière 2020 ends with a well-known blend among Thierry Mugler fans, marrying vanilla, patchouli and praline. One could almost believe it were a scent straight out of a childhood funfair!
