Angel Nova

Angel Nova: The new eau de parfum from Thierry Mugler In 1992, Thierry Mugler gave birth to a fragrance that would quickly become one of the greatest perfumes in the entire history of feminine perfumery: Angel. With this fragrance, he wanted to create something close to tenderness, to childhood, having a resonance common to everyone.

In 1992, Thierry Mugler had a wish: to make a perfume that could have a resonance common to everyone, something close to tenderness, to childhood. This is how he imagined the first gourmand essence in the entire history of perfumery. As will be recognized, this feminine perfume is none other than the iconic Angel by Thierry Mugler. Since then, and as it will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary, this fragrance never ceases to reinvent itself. Year after year, new editions of its scent keep this olfactory legend alive. Once again, in 2020, Angel transforms and becomes Angel Nova. So, does it still manage to create surprise? Here is a review of this bold and fanciful essence.

Olfastory’s review

A fragrance very different from the traditional Thierry Mugler Angel

The first version of the Thierry Mugler Angel perfume transported one to the heart of a fairground, blending the scents of cotton candy and candy apple, for a particularly gourmand rendering. This time, however, the designer decided to completely overturn his world. For the very first time, Angel Nova moves away from the oriental and gourmand breath of the iconic Angel. It thus demonstrates an unprecedented boldness, owed to three particularly talented perfumers, namely Quentin Bisch, Louise Turner and Sonia Constant. Here, they imagined a fruity and floral perfume, not lacking in temperament. Angel Nova opens with a juicy and exotic marriage of raspberry and lychee. Then, Damask rose appears at its heart, embodying romance and femininity. Gradually, Angel Nova takes on a woody structure and leaves in its sillage a breath of benzoin and akigalawood.

Angel Nova, novelties on the bottle side as well

Moreover, the surprises do not stop there and Angel Nova also comes with a new bottle. Make no mistake, Thierry Mugler still relies on its traditional star to dazzle. However, this crystal star does not take on the same appearance as its predecessors. For the first time, it stands upright and thus proudly rises before one's eyes. Moreover, it also abandons its traditional transparent blue color for a much more flashy and electrifying raspberry pink. As always, Angel Nova is presented in a refillable bottle, a real asset for the environment.

Thierry Mugler also introduces a new face of the campaign

Finally, as if all these elements were not enough to surprise, Thierry Mugler also relies on a new face of the campaign to lend her image to the Angel Nova perfume. This time, the designer sets his sights on the German Toni Garrn, particularly famous in the modeling world. Considered the new Claudia Schiffer, she is enhanced here by talented artists such as Christine Corbel for makeup, Vi Sapyyapy for hair and Georgia Pendlebury for clothing. With such a cast and such inventiveness, Thierry Mugler once again offers a perfect demonstration of all its talent. Angel Nova truly keeps all its promises and still manages to surprise.
