Where to buy

Each of his fragrances is a genuine challenge, whether in terms of blending scents or bottle design. As a result, each of his releases is highly anticipated and holds many surprises in store. The house's latest arrival is no exception to the rule. The Aura fragrance nestles into a bottle of great beauty and delivers a gourmand scent, as Thierry Mugler knows so well how to create.

The gourmand and woody scent of Aura by Thierry Mugler

Aura is a fragrance that is at once very different from its predecessors while still retaining the DNA of the house of Thierry Mugler. Indeed, Thierry Mugler is considered the initiator of gourmand fragrances, a trend that is particularly in vogue in women's perfumery. He created the very first sweet fragrance in history, in 1992. It is now world famous and is called Angel. Not wishing to change his signature, Thierry Mugler has chosen here to retain a gourmand sillage. Aura opens with a breath of rhubarb. This leaves behind a sparkling, green and whimsical sensation. Both bitter and fruity, it is quickly relayed by a brighter heart containing orange blossom. This Mediterranean plant is a great classic of women's perfumery and brings a more sun-kissed aspect here. Finally, Aura closes with a more syrupy and woody base emanating from vanilla.

The bewitching bottle of Aura

Nevertheless, the new Aura would be nothing without its sumptuous bottle. Its container is particularly elaborate and its glass has been shaped here in a highly sculptural manner. The whole forms a sort of stylized heart and thus delivers a very strong message. Indeed, the heart is a symbol of love and emotion. Its reach is universal, and it is precisely for this powerful connotation that it was chosen by Thierry Mugler, a designer usually drawn more to stars. The green color, for its part, also carries a very symbolic meaning. This cool shade symbolizes, for Europeans, hope. For the Chinese, it is a sign of spring and kindness. It represents the universal sap that gives birth to life. In India, green is the color of the god Ganesha and is linked to the sphere of creation. It is the emblem of eternity and rebirth. It is also a symbol of balance, renewal, love and harmony. As you will have understood, Aura is a fragrance of serenity and calm. It was unveiled with a most seductive advertising poster. Featuring an undressed woman, it draws us into the heart of a lush forest. Only the luminosity of Aura seems to guide the young woman's steps, whose emerald green gaze is most bewitching.

The advertising

Feline instinct in untamed nature

Buzzman campaign on TV, billboards, press and digital, film by Warren du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones featuring Zhenya Katava.

The global launch campaign was developed by the Buzzman agency and rolled out across television, billboards, press and digital, a first step for the agency into TV and print within the luxury world. The film was directed by the London-based duo Warren du Preez & Nick Thornton Jones.

Zhenya Katava, a Belarusian model, embodies a feline young woman moving through untamed nature, invited to listen to her instinct. The choice of ambassador was made together with Virginie Courtin-Clarins, director of Mugler Fashion, alongside the fragrance team. At the time the launch was announced, in June-July 2017, Fragrantica described the advertisement as being close in inspiration to Avatar.
