Xeryus Rouge

Givenchy has produced numerous exceptional creations and has become a brand of excellence in the fields of haute couture, as well as leather goods and perfumery. Hubert de Givenchy owes his first fragrance to his encounter with Audrey Hepburn, to whom he would dedicate L’Interdit. In 1995, after major olfactory successes, Givenchy presented Xeryus Rouge, a masculine oriental fragrance with a dominant fougère character.

Givenchy's modern hero

If Givenchy gave its perfume the name Xeryus, it is because the house wanted its own Greek hero. It is true that many perfume houses have drawn on mythology to imagine a fragrance, and Givenchy also wanted a hero for modern times. Here, the hero is strong and triumphant. Half man, half centaur, Xeryus displays a natural magnetism. He won over Ysatis, his Greek goddess, with whom he forms a mythical couple. While Xeryus was launched in 1986, Xeryus Rouge is meant to be far more suggestive. This modern-day hero enjoys games of seduction and sensual encounters. Between strength and love, Xeryus Rouge is a contrasted fragrance. The color red echoes the color of love, of the passion whose story has played out and replayed itself since the dawn of time.

The sweet and sensual notes of Xeryus Rouge

This is the first time Givenchy has used the oriental family for a men's fragrance. Xeryus Rouge opens on notes full of life and rather unexpected, with a cactus accord, brimming with water, alongside tarragon and kumquat, a citrus fruit highly valued for its smooth freshness. The heart is spicy, with the presence of chili pepper. This pairs with the green notes of African geranium and cedar leaf. The base, meanwhile, is meant to be very sensual. It is composed of cedarwood, ambergris, sandalwood and white musks. The oriental sensuality of Xeryus Rouge reaches its peak. The bottle immediately displays an imposing structure. Its red-colored juice reveals the hero's ardent passion. Its black label and black cap add a final touch of elegance.

After Xeryus, launched in 1986, Givenchy presented Xeryus Rouge in 1995. The latter is the fragrance of a conquering man, in the image of a Greek god. With its sweet and sensual notes, Givenchy's god asserts an unfailing bewitchment. The red color of its juice confirms the seduction and passion that animate Givenchy's Xeryus.
