Body Kouros

If his style is liberating, provocative, the young designer draws attention. He is compelling, he also shocks, notably when he posed nude for his fragrance “Pour Homme.” By reinventing women's fashion, Yves Saint Laurent played a significant role in women's liberation. “Rive Gauche,” his first fragrance (along with Pour Homme) indeed goes in this direction. In 2000, the house unveiled “Kouros Body,” a reinterpretation of eternal masculinity.

The story of Kouros begins in 1981 with the release of an ultra masculine essence, one that recalls the strength of Greek gods. It should be noted that “Kouros” was the name given to sculptures depicting a nude man, with an absolutely perfect body and an assumed virility. “Kouros” is a fragrance that symbolizes strength and power, and becomes the interpretation of a living myth. “Body Kouros” then appears as a more modern reinterpretation of its elder, yet one that nonetheless displays a body just as sculptural! With its reflective spirit, “Body Kouros” aims to be a perfect harmony between body and mind. “Body Kouros” is the two facets of Yves Saint Laurent's personality, mental and physical, brought together here. The complex notes of Body Kouros

It is the talented perfumer Annick Ménardo who is behind this composition, as original as it is complex. The opening of “Body Kouros” is sharp and ultra radiant thanks to the presence of Eucalyptus, Star anise and Star anise, heightened by the spicy notes of Nutmeg. The heart of “Body Kouros” appears contrasted, as it combines Carnation, Lavender and Cinnamon. The base is sensual, warm, and enveloping. It is composed of Incense, Benzoin, Tonka bean and Sandalwood. As for the bottle, it echoes the main codes of its elder. Previously tinted white, the bottle of “Body Kouros” is, for the occasion, opaque black. The contrasts present in the composition are found in the bottle's design. Notably, one can see the rounded edges combined with its square shape, the matte finish of the bottle against the shine of part of the cap, the black of its walls against the white of its lettering…
