Cabotine
Cabotine, playful yet so endearing With the real name Germaine Krebs, Madame Grès opened her first workshop under the name Alix Couture. It was 1934, and at that time, she did not know how to sew!

She explained, however, that ignorance is something very important, that it has the purity of innocence… The opening of the house of Grès revealed her as an apostle of restraint. Her asymmetrical dresses, draped in the antique manner and molded to the body, gave her a unique style. In 1959, the house ventured into perfumery with Cabochard, which became an enormous success. In 1990, Grès presented Cabotine, a fragrance of youth and mischief.
The mischief of Cabotine
Cabotine is defined as the daughter of Cabochard, created in 1959. Both a young girl and a young woman, Cabotine is romantic, elegant and seductive. With Cabotine, everything is play and mischief. This pretty, daring creature carries us into an ultra-joyful world. It must be said that the word cabotine means show-off, or ham actress. Thus, this actress reveals a thousand and one facets of her personality. No one resists her devastating smile, her beguiling face and her cheerfulness. With her mischievous air, Cabotine can be whoever she wants… Child, woman, seductress, princess, playful or impish… Cabotine is all of that at once.
The floral-fruity notes of Cabotine
Cabotine is the first fragrance to have started the cocooning trend. Cabotine is built around Ginger lily, a white flower with broad petals found in the Himalayas. It delivers delicate and sensual notes. Cabotine opens on the fresh notes of Mandarin. These are joined by Blackcurrant bud and the spice of Cardamom. The heart of Cabotine is an enormous bouquet of flowers. It is composed of Tuberose, Ylang-ylang, Ginger lily, Orange blossom and Rose. The base, meanwhile, is meant to be deeper and more sustained thanks to the presence of Vetiver, musks, Cedarwood and Tonka bean. The bottle, signed Thierry Lecoule, mirrors the composition's playfulness. It offers a harmonious, curved shape. The floral sculpture of the cap evokes a dream. The green color of the cap underscores its natural aspect. Two years after its release, Cabotine received the International Prize for Best Feminine Fragrance, awarded by the Accademia del Profumo, in Italy.
After the enormous success of Cabochard, the fashion house Grès made its mark with Cabotine, a fragrance as playful as could be. Young girl or young woman, Cabotine offers multiple facets, each more joyful than the last. Its floral and fruity composition delivers a delightful sillage, one that cannot be forgotten.
