To create its “slogan fragrance,” the Diesel house called on three great perfumers, Olivier Polge, Pierre Wargnye and Aliénor Massenet. Olivier Polge is currently the in-house perfumer of Chanel. Intuitive, creative and highly talented, Olivier Polge has proven himself and made his mark in the world of perfumery. Olivier Polge is behind wonderful successes such as Cuir Beluga by Guerlain and Chance Eau Vive by Chanel. Pierre Wargnye has worked for more than 20 years at the prestigious company IFF (International Flavors & Fragrances). Pierre Wargnye possesses a unique expertise and is regarded as a landmark figure of perfumery. He is responsible for great perfumes such as La Nuit de l'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent and Drakkar Noir by Guy Laroche. Aliénor Massenet also belongs to IFF, first in New York, then in Paris. Aliénor Massenet likes to recreate moments of emotion she has experienced and enjoys weaving contrasting notes into her perfumes. It is also Aliénor Massenet who created Only The Brave Extrême.
Virility at the heart of the Only The Brave perfume
Only The Brave opens on very refreshing tones, namely lemon paired with dihydromyrcenol. Dihydromyrcenol is a synthetic material created by IFF. An olfactory molecule widely used in masculine compositions, dihydromyrcenol offers tones that are both ultra-fresh and ultra-clean. The first perfume to introduce dihydromyrcenol into its composition was Azzaro pour Homme by Azzaro, released in 1975. Then, the heart of Only The Brave is virile, yet very bold, combining violet flower with cedarwood, the whole being heightened by coriander. Native to the Middle East and Southeast Asia, coriander is also called Arabian parsley. Coriander is a plant whose upright stems form herbaceous clusters, sometimes exceeding 60 cm. Its name derives from Greek and means husband of the bug, owing to the strong odor it releases. In perfumery, coriander presents tones that are camphorous, powerful and spicy. Finally, the base is enveloping, virile and deeply sensual thanks to the presence of labdanum cistus, styrax, amber and benzoin. Shaped like a clenched fist, the bottle conveys a final message of determination and freedom.
