Maison Margiela

REPLICA Jazz Club

With REPLICA Jazz Club, Maison Margiela recreates in Eau de Toilette the atmosphere of a Brooklyn jazz club, on a composition by Aliénor Massenet dated 2013. Amber and woody, the fragrance opens on pink pepper, lemon and neroli, places rum, clary sage and vetiver at its heart, and rests on tobacco leaf, vanilla and styrax.

Where to buy

REPLICA Jazz Club belongs to Maison Margiela's REPLICA collection, in which each fragrance reproduces a memory tied to a place and a moment. This one recalls a Brooklyn jazz club, with deep armchairs, bar stools, dim lighting and cocktails forgotten on the piano.

Aliénor Massenet composed it in 2013. The house classifies it among amber woody fragrances and describes it as unisex: rum and vanilla pod represent a glass of amber liquor, tobacco leaf and pink pepper the smoke of cigars.

An apothecary bottle

The bottle looks as if taken from an apothecary's shelf. It bears on its face the fabric label that also marks the garments of the REPLICA couture line, and it is now refillable.

Olfastory’s review

The critics praise the realism of the evocation, faithful to the collection's principle, and agree on a cold-season fragrance, made for evening. On longevity, opinions diverge: very good for a blogger, more modest for a reviewer who finds it mostly intimate after the first hour.
