Diesel launched Only the Brave in 2009, with L’Oréal; Aliénor Massenet, Olivier Polge and Pierre Wargnye of IFF composed the formula. A woody amber according to the house, it opens on lemon, mandarin and coriander leaves, before a heart of labdanum, violet leaves and rosemary and a base of amber, a leather accord and cedar. Its bottle takes the shape of a fist.

On April 29, 2009, Kevin of Now Smell This warned that Only the Brave is neither innovative nor strange, and that it reminds him of Zirh’s Ikon. A lover of citrus, leather and woods, he nonetheless likes its components, and the fragrance appeals to him.
He would have wanted its fresh ozone notes to be more discreet. He finds it light, made for summer; even after a shower, his skin kept a scent of vanilla and cedar, which reminded him of incense cones.
