L’Eau d’Issey was born in 1992. The very first fragrance of the Issey Miyaké house, composed by Jacques Cavallier, L’Eau d’Issey immediately won over with its unprecedented, limpid freshness, taking us far from the first gourmand fragrances or the very floral perfumes of that era. L’Eau d’Issey is a waterfall, and it would invade every heart, never to leave it.
After multiple summer variations of this lovely fragrance, which lends itself so easily to reinterpretation, the creation of a new Eau d’Issey was entrusted to one of the masters of contemporary perfumery, Dominique Ropion. Although the man has brought to life numerous masterpieces in perfumery in recent years (such as Olympéa, One Million, La Vie est Belle), he cannot praise L’Eau d’Issey enough, so much does he admire its composition. It is therefore hardly surprising that this nature-loving perfumer would bring L’Eau d’Issey back to life as a modern, limpid Eau d’Issey Pure, but also warmer and honeyed.

After the birth of L’Eau d’Issey Pure and its notable success in perfumery, Dominique Ropion and his apprentice perfumer Fanny Bal (both already the authors of Sale Gosse for Frederic Malle) went on to compose together an intense version of L’Eau d’Issey Pure named L’Eau d’Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum.

Dominique Ropion and Fanny Bal worked together on the composition of L’Eau d’Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum in order to preserve the backbone of their first bottle, L’Eau d’Issey Pure, between the strength of cashmeran and the delicacy of rose, while definitively taking on a much more powerful honeyed and fruity note.
Thus L’Eau d’Issey Pure Nectar de Parfum abandons the original freshness of the citrus note cocktail of its predecessors to become a fruity velvet of pear paired with a savory, gourmand honey note. This amber opening wraps around the lovely traditional rose of the heart while gliding toward fresh, airy aquatic notes. This blend of honeyed warmth and marine coolness finds its conclusion in intense depths of ambergris, cashmeran and sandalwood, the unmistakable signature of the Eau d’Issey Pure fragrances but also of the house of their creator Dominique Ropion.
