Where to buy

It highlights the refined and courteous style of certain men through various fragrances. While this began with the creation of Gentleman in 1975, the most famous fragrance in this line came about in 2013. As one would have guessed, this is the iconic Gentlemen Only.

Givenchy's refined masculinity

If Givenchy wished to create a fragrance in tribute to gentlemen the world over, it is simply because this fits perfectly with its couture style. Nothing less was needed to enhance the outfits of this elegant house. Gentlemen Only seems to be the fragrance of a club bringing together a universal masculinity. This informal circle is that of gentlemen. It is not a title one can acquire but rather a way of being that seems almost innate. The art of being a gentleman results from a skillful blend of elegance, nonchalance and confidence. Thus, Gentlemen Only is the fragrance of an assured masculinity, courteous yet impertinent. One can easily picture this juice worn by a self-assured man, quick-witted, with a confident stride and a devastating smile at the corner of his lips. Gentlemen Only symbolizes this type of man's taste for beautiful things. It is at once energizing and refined. In that sense, it would suit accompanying a man at a society evening almost as well as slipping into his gym bag. Moreover, for several years now this scent has been embodied by one of the most attractive gentlemen on the planet: Simon Baker, an Australian actor better known as the Mentalist.

The fresh, aromatic and woody scent of Gentlemen Only

Gentlemen Only is a fragrance signed by perfumers Francis Kurkdjian and Jean Jacques. It is built on a traditional aromatic accord readily associated with masculine perfumery. Gentlemen Only reveals a contrasted freshness halfway between citrus and woody accents. At the start, it delivers a flavor of green mandarin spiced with pink pepper and nutmeg. However, for greater nobility and refinement, a touch of birch leaves has been added to this ensemble. Then the freshness gradually fades in favor of greater depth. Gentlemen Only releases accents of cedarwood, patchouli and vetiver. This trio gives more structure and confidence to the whole. Finally, everything ends with the penetrating warmth of incense. Likewise, this fragrance is housed in a sober yet chic bottle. It presents itself as both classic and contemporary. It recalls the flask of English gentlemen and is thus similar to its elder launched in 1975. The whole is conceived in magnetic blue tones further enhanced by a brushed metal cap.

The advertising

Released in 2013, Gentleman Only is the fragrance of attractive, romantic men. It brings together all the men for whom gallantry and good manners still hold value. Givenchy's gentleman is unquestionably an elegant and attractive man. With Gentleman Only, the house of Givenchy created an informal club, that of gentlemen. Composed by Francis Kurkdjian and Jean Jacques, Gentleman Only is a spicy aromatic scent. Between woody spices and citrus, the composition of Gentleman Only is as fresh as it is contemporary.

Gentleman Only, gallantry, even in the rain!

Under the camera of German director Peter Lindbergh, the advertising clip unfolds in the rain. Dressed in a white shirt and a black suit signed Givenchy, the gentleman played by the charismatic Simon Baker strolls through the streets of New York, in a relaxed, casual manner. As pouring rain is seen, Simon Baker appears unfazed, umbrella closed, until he catches the eye of a magnificent brunette dressed in red. He then opens his umbrella to offer it to her and shield her, and continues on his way through the rain. The act of shielding a perfect stranger from the rain makes Simon Baker a perfect gentleman. Here, one witnesses a neo-romantic comedy in which Simon Baker offers all the sex appeal that characterizes him.

Simon Baker, Givenchy's modern-day gentleman

Named, in 2012, the sexiest man in the world by French women, Simon Baker is Givenchy's gentleman. Born in 1969 in Tasmania (Australia), Simon Baker was brought to public attention through the American series The Mentalist. Since then, his charm has worked inexorably. On February 14, 2013, he received his star on Hollywood Boulevard. That same year, the Givenchy brand made him the face of the campaign to embody Gentleman Only, a role that fits him perfectly. Indeed, Simon Baker embodies the perfect English gentleman with his devastating smile and his allure, as sexy as it is natural. According to Givenchy, courtesy is casual, and elegance is a state of mind. This is exactly what the sexiest man in the world wonderfully represents. Simon Baker is also the face of Gentleman Casual Chic and Gentleman Only Intense.

Gentleman Only is the fragrance of an ultra-select club, that of gentlemen. Because gallantry and romanticism are values still relevant today, the Givenchy brand decided to honor them. To represent such an elegant fragrance, Givenchy chose Simon Baker, best known for his role in the series The Mentalist. As charismatic as he is elegant, Simon Baker, voted sexiest man in 2012, brings full meaning here to the word gentleman.
