Miss Dior Parfum is the reinterpretation of the 1947 Miss Dior signed by Francis Kurkdjian in 2024, a contemporary chypre in which a jasmine with facets of strawberry, peach and apricot answers mandarin, over a base of patchouli, Alaska cedar and moss. Dior sells it in 35, 50, 80 and 125 ml, in a bottle engraved with a houndstooth pattern and a silver dagger-knot bow.
Dior classes Miss Dior Parfum among the chypres and describes it as a fruity jasmine bouquet heightened by an amber cedar. Wikiparfum places it among the florals and lists six raw materials: jasmine, mandarin, Alaska cedar, strawberry, moss and patchouli.
Radiant mandarin
The opening consists of juicy mandarin notes, which the house says come from Calabria, the sole citrus in the composition. They illuminate the jasmine rather than forming a tier in their own right, in a fragrance built from the outset on the flower and on the woods.
Starry jasmine and wild strawberries
The heart is dominated by a jasmine tailored specifically for Dior, which the house calls starry jasmine. Its treatment gives it accents of strawberry, peach and apricot, a rosy, fruity note that is surprising in a white flower and recalls, according to the brand, jasmine of days past.
Wild strawberries, crisp and juicy, reinforce this gourmand facet. Kurkdjian sees in it the mark of his time, a chypre that also speaks through gourmand character and not through flowers and woods alone.
Amber woods
The base is a woody, amber movement, solidly built according to Dior: a broad, refined patchouli, darkened by a dense, binding Alaska cedar, and an undergrowth carpeted with moss that envelops the composition. This is where the chypre reasserts itself.
Persolaise, once past the sweet opening, hears a calmer, drier chypre base. Journal du Luxe holds this woody, amber undertone, Alaska cedar and patchouli foremost, to be the new dimension of the 2024 version.
What remains outside the declared accord
Peach and apricot are facets of the treated jasmine, not raw materials in their own right, and remain outside the tiers. The bare amber and oakmoss encountered elsewhere do not appear in the house's account, which speaks of amber woods and moss without naming it.
What the label declares
The house's ingredient list is an extensive disclosure. Behind alcohol, the word Parfum and water come linalool, patchouli oil named as such, limonene, linalyl acetate and a bergamot peel oil that the brand's discourse does not mention.
Tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes, transparent wood, trimethylbenzenepropanol, a lily-of-the-valley facet, benzyl salicylate and coumarin provide the foundation. A jasmine oil or extract appears explicitly, along with rose ketones, vanillin and hexyl cinnamal, floral and gourmand accents.
Citral, citronellol and geraniol hold the citrus and rose, beta-caryophyllene and eugenol a spicy, woody base. A sun filter protects the color of the juice, which three dyes, red, yellow and violet, tint pink.
