L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme was the designer's very first fragrance for men, conceived in the image of his fashion, inventive and independent. This perfume had not hesitated to challenge conventions, even at the risk of surprising consumers. Today, it returns in a version fresher and more invigorating than before. The summer edition of L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme offers an aquatic plunge and becomes L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon.
L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon, the exoticism of a lagoon
Like many summer fragrances, L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon takes us on a journey and invites us to set down our bags not far from Japan, on the island of Zamami. Located in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this piece of land looks like a postcard. Highly appreciated by divers as well as surfers, the island of Zamami surprises with the beauty of its seabed. This is precisely what this perfume is about. L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme is a very aquatic juice, offering the wearer a plunge into the heart of one of the most beautiful coral reefs. The setting of this new fragrance is perfectly established from the very sight of its bottle. Revisited by Mai Hua, a renowned colorist from the École Nationale des Arts Décoratifs, this bottle is now decorated with turquoise blue touches. The sea, meanwhile, appears on its cardboard box. Finally, the name L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon appears in a yellow color, both sun-kissed and a sign of energy.
The sharp freshness of the ocean at the heart of L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon
So, what about the scent of this new fragrance? And does it live up to its promises? To imagine the smell of the ocean, Issey Miyake called on perfumer Aurélien Guichard. A talented nose from Grasse, he has always made maritime expanses one of his main sources of inspiration. Here, he first materializes all the freshness of the waves through a blend of grapefruit, lime, cardamom and ginger. The elegance of L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon then resurfaces from a more peppery, floral geranium. The marine accord of this perfume remains omnipresent throughout. It guides this fragrance from beginning to end, like a sort of connecting thread. It is accompanied in turn by a green note of galbanum, followed by the virility of woods. Vetiver, cypress and cedar become one. Musk finally elevates the whole with a more sensual, animalic breath. L’Eau d’Issey pour Homme Shade Of Lagoon immerses us with a simple breath into a turquoise lagoon, while the intensity of the ocean is reflected in its notes of vetiver and cedar, combined with the warmth of ambroxan and musk.
