Le Sel D'Issey

Issey Miyake launched Le Sel d’Issey at the end of August 2024. The house accompanied the eau de toilette with an exhibition, Imagination of Salt, shown at the 21_21 Design Sight gallery in Tokyo from August 28 to September 8.

Quentin Bisch and salt

The composition is the work of Quentin Bisch, a Givaudan perfumer born in Strasbourg and trained at the company’s perfumery school in Grasse. Since salt has no smell of its own, and the fragrance contains no salt extract, he had to translate the idea of it.

He told Sharp Magazine he thought of the sea, the land and the waves that come and go, with salt as what remains. He never met Issey Miyake, but felt connected to him and wanted a fragrance the designer would have been proud of.

A vegan formula

Sharp Magazine presents the formula as vegan and made with 95% ingredients of natural origin. The house highlights a vetiver grown in sand for the first time and a cedar made from shavings from the furniture industry.

Sizes

The eau de toilette is sold in 50 and 100 ml, with a 150 ml refill; a 200 ml shower gel accompanies it.
