The history of men and Courrèges

The house of Courrèges has always been characterized by its menswear. Yet it had already tried to turn toward men in the 1970s. Indeed, André Courrèges created a first men's collection in 1973. Quickly, from 1977, this clothing line was paired with a fragrance named FH77. André Courrèges explained: I had a precise idea: I wanted an eau de toilette to be worn with joy, with an original scent, strong and very masculine, warm and enveloping. I called it FH 77, F for Formula, H for Homme, and 77 for the year of its birth, or two times 7, a lucky number. Yet he quickly refocused on femininity, and Courrèges's men's collections eventually disappeared. At the same time, the Courrèges brand has always been associated with numerous sporting events. It notably had to create the official uniforms for the Munich Olympic Games in 1972. Today, it is this entire history that seems to resurface through this fragrance. Indeed, since 2014, Courrèges has been bringing its men's division back into the spotlight, notably thanks to entrepreneur Frédéric Torloting. We wanted to broaden our scope while respecting the brand's visual heritage, he states. Likewise, in addition to its clothing line, Courrèges now offers two new fragrances, one of which is Courrèges Homme Sport.

Courrèges Homme Sport is presented in an imposing, clean-lined and masculine bottle. Its bottle forms a square of thick glass, while still letting light pass through. Thus, despite its harmony, this container is entirely made of contrasts. Its transparency gives it a very fragile and serene side. Yet the thickness of its glass and its imposing stature foreshadow a very assertive masculinity. Its name, for its part, appears on one of its sides, in gray capital letters. Thus, Courrèges Homme Sport takes on a particularly urban and modern look. Its scent mirrors its visual. It, too, is highly contrasted and plays on a blend of freshness and sensuality. Thus, Courrèges Homme Sport opens with an invigorating breath of mint. Its heart, for its part, evolves toward a more powdery and green elegance of violet. Finally, it ends with a sillage that animates seducers with musk.
