Infusion d'Iris

The first perfume in the series of Prada's Infusions, Infusion d’Iris was the very first fragrance to open the way for Prada's Collection des Infusions. Created in 2007 by the talented perfumer Daniela Andrier, it is a fragrance that defies expectations.

Where to buy

Indeed, the least one can say is that the house of Prada kept its promise to craft a juice that resembles no trend whatsoever. It is built on high-quality raw materials. It is far removed from today's overly opulent and flashy fragrances. With it, everything is subtlety. Infusion d’Iris prefers to whisper rather than shout. It also invites closeness and expresses a very nuanced femininity.

The timelessness of Prada's Collection des Infusions

Infusion d’Iris is a fragrance that sits a thousand miles from feminine or masculine stereotypes. It pays little heed to current trends, simply following its own voice. It seems just as steeped in a past heritage as it is turned toward the modernity of our present world. It alone carries the weight of Prada's long history combined with its visionary spirit. In other words, it holds the entire contradiction of the Prada brand. Infusion d’Iris is at once the past and the future, precision and poetry, subtlety and power, freshness and seduction. It can boast of having conjured an unknown universe, laden with dreams and emotions. Its subtlety only makes this juice more captivating. With it, nothing is stated outright, everything is suggested. Infusion d’Iris is an invitation to dream. It is a fine tribute to Italy. Its fresh scent resembles that of clean linen, elevating bare skin. Entirely in half-tones, this juice immediately captivated perfume enthusiasts. Since its creation, Prada's Infusions have continued to follow one another on the shelves of the house of Prada.

The many olfactory nuances of an Infusion d’Iris

Iris is a very noble raw material, undoubtedly one of the most expensive in the perfumer's entire palette. What is more, Prada spared no expense, turning to one of the most refined iris varieties on the planet: Florentine Iris Pallida. Treated with lightness and delicacy, it delivers here the best of its scent. Its opening is also lit up by a sparkling, tangy pairing of mandarin and neroli. By choosing fresh, citrus top notes, Prada wished to pay tribute to the eaux de Cologne of old. The green, earthy notes of galbanum also make an appearance here. These are enriched by the warmth of Mediterranean mastic. Finally, woody notes gradually take over. Infusion d’Iris closes with a subtle blend of vetiver, cedar and benzoin. Somali incense, for its part, helps here to heighten the mysterious character of this juice.

Olfastory’s review

Most of the time, today's fragrances are gendered essences, meaning they address only men or exclusively women. Yet, at the dawn of modern perfumery, eaux de Cologne were unisex fragrances. As if to return to the roots of this ancestral craft, the house of Prada decided, in 2007, to turn once again to unisex creations. And so Infusion d'Iris was born. Rich in multiple contradictions, this fragrance is built around one of the noblest ingredients in the perfumer's entire palette. Presented in a luxurious bottle, it sits at the crossroads of genders and eras. Here is our review of this unique and atypical fragrance.

Leather gloves and a vintage bottle

Photographed in Los Angeles by Steven Meisel, the campaign shows Sasha Pivovarova touching the bottle, her hands gloved in leather.

The global print campaign is photographed in Los Angeles by Steven Meisel, with art direction by Ezra Petronio in collaboration with Miuccia Prada. The visual shows Russian model Sasha Pivovarova touching the bottle, her hands gloved in leather. The approach is summed up by Puig as the pairing of a vintage bottle with a strong woman of today.

Sasha Pivovarova posed for the house the same year: Prada's archive lists her, alongside Irina Kulikova and Anabela Belikova, in the fall-winter 2007 fashion campaign also photographed by Steven Meisel. A visual released in summer 2007 and discussed by Now Smell This shows, for its part, the model leaning over a giant vat of juice.
