Allure Homme Sport
Allure Homme Sport: The very first flanker of a sporty fragrance. After the tremendous success of Allure Homme in 1999, the house of Chanel decided to innovate by offering a masculine flanker that was rare for the time, the sporty flanker.

Where to buy
Allure Homme Sport was released in 2004, exuding fresh, elegant and refined scents to offer a sleeker version of the Chanel men's bestseller. Elegant, sensual and intense, this masculine fragrance awakens toward gentle purity while retaining its handsome virility.
Allure Homme Sport, where the ideal man is seductive, natural and athletic
The men of Chanel fragrances are charismatic, elegant and sensual, in the image of the Allure man of 1999. Yet they are not only handsome, they are also brilliant athletes devoted to nature, simplicity and grand gestures. At a time when men dream of being long-distance sailors, driven by the growing popularity of events such as the Vendée-Globe, Allure Homme Sport draws on grand maritime expanses to present its fragrance with its face of the campaign. The model Andres Velencoso moves alone, abandoned by all, in a black-and-white setting where the man, young and bare-chested, confronts the natural elements, sweeping men and women alike toward beautiful, authentic freshness.
Nothing is more sensual than the natural, states Chanel about Allure Homme Sport. Judging by the aesthetic result of the visuals and advertisements presented, it would be hard to disagree.
"Sport" fragrances: Polo Sport and Allure Homme Sport as figureheads
In order to sell fragrances to men in the early 20th century, it was necessary to affix the label "Pour Homme" to the bottle. In order to sell finer, lighter fragrances to men of the 21st century, it became necessary to affix the word "sport" to fragrances, following the example of the very first Polo Sport in 1994 and, now, Allure Homme Sport.
As a result, every element is meant to remind the wearer of Chanel's Allure Homme Sport of its sporting world. The bottle of this new Allure Homme from 2004 sports a sober metallic gray casing topped with a black rubber cap set with a metal ring, evoking the world of Formula 1 or of boats synonymous with power, energy and speed.
As for the fragrance of Allure Homme Sport, it presents itself as fully embracing a fresh new take. The freshness of this fine fragrance is, of course, given by the citrus top notes of mandarin and orange, by aldehydes, and by the fresh new molecule dihydromyrcenol. At the heart, sweet and suave neroli flower carries us toward delicate exotic sensations, which resolve into a deep, woody sillage of tonka bean, cedar and vetiver, balanced by delicately floral notes of white musk.
While the sporty fragrance seemed to promise a perfume of heightened virility, this is clearly not the case. The athlete of Allure Homme Sport is a young, dynamic dandy far more than a powerful, ultra-virile man...

The advertising
Allure Homme Sport by Chanel was born in 2004, completing the house's Allure line. Synonymous with energy and movement, this fragrance gives a warm, sensual vitality to its wearer. Synonymous with fullness and well-being, it takes shape through a fresh, woody, spicy breath. Thus, with Allure Homme Sport, every facet of masculinity is explored. Naturally, since its release in 2004, this fragrance has been accompanied by numerous advertisements. In this context, let us take a moment to look at its 2010 television spot, featuring Andres Valencoso.
Who is Andres Valencoso, face of the campaign for Chanel?
Andres Valencoso is Spanish, born in 1978, known for his talents as an actor and model. Although his early career was rather difficult, Andres Valencoso has since clearly had his revenge. Indeed, he can boast of having appeared on the cover of numerous fashion magazines, and of having taken part in countless advertising campaigns for the greatest luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton, Zara, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Chanel. His assets? An athletic figure and a smoldering gaze... An impeccable allure that fits perfectly with the image of this fragrance!
An advertisement by Bruce Weber
In the television campaign for Allure Homme Sport, Andres Valencoso is directed by Bruce Weber, an American photographer and filmmaker renowned for his numerous advertisements, notably for Calvin Klein, Abercrombie & Fitch, Moncler and Ralph Lauren. Just as talented on screen as behind the camera, he won the Applied Photography Award in 1994. Known for his black-and-white shots, he delivers here a distillation of his full expertise.
The advertisement for Allure Homme Sport
The Allure Homme Sport campaign by Chanel takes place aboard a splendid sailboat, built in 1930. On this boat, Andres Valencoso sails alone. Setting off to conquer the ocean, he is filmed in black and white, set to the musical track “I Heard It Through the Grapevine” by Bill Laswell, a cover of the version written for Smokey Robinson & the Miracles in 1966, and more recently reused by Marvin Gaye. Facing the natural elements, Andres Valencoso appears on screen as a true adventurer. His dazzling smile captures attention from the very start of the advertisement, as does his penetrating gaze, filmed repeatedly. Sometimes basking in the sun, sometimes struggling against the waves and hoisting the ropes, Andres Valencoso seems to fully master the art of sailing. There is no doubt that he has every asset needed to win the challenge he has set for himself. This campaign is enough to breathe authentic freshness through the screen. It ultimately closes with the Chanel name appearing in black on screen, while the boat fades into the background.
