DIOR Eau Sauvage Cologne

Eau Sauvage Cologne is a flanker of Eau Sauvage launched by Dior in 2015 and composed by François Demachy. It pushes the line toward citrus and lightness: mandarin, bergamot and lemon at the opening, a clear heart carried by hedione and green notes, a thin base of vetiver and musks. The name refers to the cologne form, dominant among men before 1966. Sauvage, released the same year, belongs to a different line.

Where to buy

Quite simply because Eau de Cologne allows the juice to become even lighter and airier while gaining increased vigor thanks to a refined selection of raw materials. This bath of freshness is embodied by the eternal Alain Delon, portrayed as a bearded adventurer out at sea… Once again Eau Sauvage creates an event!

Eau Sauvage Cologne: when Eau de Cologne becomes fashionable...

Of course, the evocation of Eau de Cologne does not at first seem particularly current…Used mainly in the 18th and 19th centuries, Eau de Cologne was above all a hygiene product before becoming a beauty ritual. It gave gentlemen a clean scent, very smooth, even too smooth for 21st-century noses.

Thanks to perfume houses that have managed to elegantly rework this great classic of perfumery, men are rediscovering with pleasure the Cologne in its modern version. Far from being sanitized like its ancestor, it carries men in a powerful and refreshing wave. To illustrate this aquatic surge, what better than choosing archive images of an Alain Delon out at sea?

The advertising spot for Eau Sauvage Cologne thus features selected images from the film Les Aventuriers, shot in 1967 by Roberto Enrico. Alain Delon appears more seductive than ever with a beard entirely unknown to the general public until then. Vintage black and white once again causes a sensation, and the advertising for Eau Sauvage Cologne has been widely talked about!

A new sun-kissed freshness for Eau Sauvage Cologne

Eau Sauvage Cologne, released in 2015, does not seek to distinguish itself absolutely from its predecessors and does not hesitate to once again display the precious flask bottle that made the fame of the original 1966 fragrance. To mark its difference nonetheless, Eau Sauvage Cologne dresses in white, synonymous with purity, on its label as well as its cap.

The composition of Eau Sauvage Cologne mainly highlights green notes within its fragrance. The top notes are thus orchestrated around citrus accords of Sicilian bergamot, lemon and mandarin, offset by rose oxide. The heart notes showcase the lovely blond woody vetiver from Haiti accompanied by a powerful and powdery cocktail of aldehydes, hedione, ozone, not forgetting the essential green notes. Finally, pink pepper berries from La Réunion punctuate the deep sillage of Eau Sauvage Parfum with a spicy and fresh touch, resting on white musks, evernyl and coumarin, the animalic note being essential.

Eau Sauvage Cologne aims to offer men of the new millennium a fragrance as fresh as Eau Sauvage while incorporating the raw materials and invigorating discoveries made over the last decade in perfumery. As Dior states about it: an immediate, effervescent composition. A spontaneous brightness that nonetheless conceals faceted nuances. Eau Sauvage has not finished surprising us, and Eau Sauvage Cologne is one of its finest surprises!
