Fahrenheit Parfum is the parfum version of Fahrenheit, composed by François Demachy for Dior in 2014. The house dresses the 1988 signature in a violet and leather accord, opened by Sicilian mandarin and heightened by a bourbon vanilla absolute. Persolaise sees it as a subdued Fahrenheit, elegant but less adventurous than the original.
Dariush Alavi, who writes as Persolaise, draws a parallel between Fahrenheit Parfum and Eau Sauvage Parfum: the violet leaf and the woods remain present, but softened by an enveloping vanilla. In April 2014, Dariush Alavi, who writes as Persolaise, draws a parallel between Fahrenheit Parfum and Eau Sauvage Parfum: François Demachy applies, in his view, the same method, which calms the original and sets it on a bed of smoky vanilla. The violet leaf and the woods remain present, but noticeably less strident.
He judges the effect appealing, suave and elegant, and recognizes the Fahrenheit signature, but regrets that the vanilla dominates so much, an easy shortcut in his view and a sign of a lack of boldness. The heart, he writes, loses some of the striking vitality of the original.
He compares the fragrance to an 1980s seducer who has settled down over time, and admits to sometimes wanting to shake it to see if anything of the old one remains.
