Fahrenheit 32

Dior launched Fahrenheit 32 in 2007 under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane: a fresh oriental composed by Louise Turner with François Demachy, which keeps nothing of the 1988 original but the shape of the bottle. Orange blossom, vetiver and vanilla are brightened with aldehydes and a solar note, in a bottle turned frosted white.

Dior launched Fahrenheit 32 in 2007, nearly twenty years after the 1988 Fahrenheit. The fragrance was born under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane, with François Demachy, and Louise Turner was its perfumer. The house presents it as a fresh oriental.

Its name refers to the freezing point of water, 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Against the fire of the original, it sets ice: a bottle turned white and frosted, a metallic gray box and advertising focused on high altitudes.

A fresh oriental

The house builds it around three materials, orange blossom, vetiver and vanilla, with fresh notes, aldehydes and a solar note. Now Smell This stresses that it keeps nothing of the original but the shape of the bottle and invites readers to judge it on its own merits.

Elena Vosnaki of Perfume Shrine placed it in 2007 among the masculine fragrances exploring a synthetic orange blossom, in the wake of Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fleur du Mâle. She saw it as a tribute to that material rather than a variation on Fahrenheit.

The range included the eau de toilette in 50 and 100 milliliters, an aftershave lotion and balm, a shower gel and two deodorants, in spray and stick form.

What critics say

Elena Vosnaki of Perfume Shrine found it very pleasant in 2007 but too feminine to pass as a classic masculine; Kevin of Now Smell This saw it as a confused, unfinished fragrance that left him lukewarm.
