Mitzah

Each of its creations is meant as a tribute to the house's founding father, the late Christian Dior. With Mitzah, the tribute is paid instead to his muse, Mitzah Bricard, whose flamboyant personality inspired Christian Dior both in his haute couture designs and in his life. Mitzah, the fragrance from the Collection Privée, burns with the same passionate fire.

Christian Dior loved women, he loved their beauty, their grace, but also their personality, ideally bold, whimsical or even eccentric, in the image of Mitzah Bricard, who was his secretary for years and certainly much more than that.

It must be said that Mitzah was a free woman who wore what she wanted whenever she wanted, such as the famous leopard print that never left her side and which would go on to inspire the master couturier for the famous Jungle collection. Christian Dior said of his muse that she was one of the rare people for whom elegance was the sole reason for living. How could François Demachy not pay tribute, through one of the bottles in the private collection, to this exceptional woman, so admired by Christian Dior and countless other artists?

This is achieved with the flamboyant Mitzah, which stands out as the king of amber fragrances, between the Dior rose that Christian loved so much and the oriental notes that so perfectly symbolize the great lady with the leopard print.

Mitzah, or the feline and mysterious fragrance of the Collection Privée Dior

In the image of the feline, refined woman that Mitzah Bricard was, François Demachy invented for Mitzah his new fragrance, a particularly innovative amber accord that he named Ambre 83, quite different from the one he had already crafted for the same collection in the fragrance Ambre Nuit.

Mitzah opens on essences of Russian coriander paired with delicately spicy cardamom, giving Mitzah a warm-cool opening that already announces the exceptional character of this olfactory discovery. Then in the heart, the surprise continues with a daring yet perfectly successful pairing of Sri Lankan cinnamon essence with damascena rose, the perfumer's favorite ingredient and emblematic of the Dior house. Finally, patchouli and labdanum bring their animalic, feline one might say, strength to enveloping notes of vanilla and honey, before being swept away in the swirl of white Somali incense that lays over Mitzah its veil of warm, sensual mystery.

I wanted to pay tribute to her heightened, feline femininity, with amber and spicy notes, but also to her spiritual side, by bringing in plenty of incense. The result is a mysterious, very sensual oriental. François Demachy on Mitzah.
