Miss Dior Eau de Toilette

Dior describes the eau de toilette in three movements. At the top, a sparkling citrus cloud of blood orange and juicy mandarin; at the center, a spicy, bursting Grasse rose swirling with a luminous jasmine, in a fresh veil of lily of the valley; in the base, a clear patchouli that binds the whole without taking over.

Three declared tiers

The house’s retailers set out the composition in tiers: mandarin and blood orange at the top, Grasse rose and a lily of the valley accord in the heart, Indonesian patchouli essence in the base. The house’s own page adds jasmine to the bouquet, kept here in the heart.

The Grasse rose, grown by Dior’s exclusive partners, is harvested by hand every year in May. Lily of the valley, which no extraction yields, is built here as an accord; the house indeed speaks of a lily of the valley accord, not of lily of the valley alone.

What changed in 2019

Angela van Rose finds the 2019 version very far from the previous one. In his own words, Demachy puts forward the centifolia rose freshened by the lily of the valley accord, whereas the earlier eau de toilette stayed close to the Chérie.

What the label declares

The ingredient list Dior publishes for the eau de toilette is short. Besides alcohol, water and fragrance, it names benzyl salicylate, linalool, limonene, hydroxycitronellal, hexyl cinnamal, citronellol, geraniol, coumarin, methyl anthranilate, citral, benzyl benzoate and benzyl alcohol.

Methyl anthranilate, a molecule found in orange blossom, accompanies the citrus notes. Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane protects the formula from light, and three colorants, CI 14700, CI 47005 and CI 60730, give the juice its pinkish tint.
