Where to buy
While François Demachy approaches the creation of his exceptional bottles as an extraordinary playground where every audacity is permitted, he goes even further by proposing the Elixirs Précieux range, designed to be added to the fragrances of the Collection Privée in order to compose a unique skin scent. Rose Elixir Précieux is one of these marvelous potions…
Dior Rose Elixir Précieux, or François Demachy's magic potion
Rose Elixir Précieux, like the three other bottles in the Elixirs Précieux range, answers two desires dear to the perfumer: reviving a perfumery tradition more than 3,000 years old, and composing a layering that would allow each person to dose and compose their own fragrance according to their skin and their wishes.
Indeed, while François Demachy particularly enjoys composing modern fragrances, he remains deeply attached to tradition. To the traditions of the Dior house, of course, but also to the ancestral traditions of perfumery, including this famous layering method, which consists of mixing two fragrances into a single one, entirely unique since it adapts to each person.
When you want to do something new, you have to look into the past for inspiration. That is the best source of creativity in my opinion. In my laboratory we have some old scents for our creation, and we see it every time: we must return to something old for it to inspire us to compose something new. Savoir Flair, François Demachy on the Elixirs Précieux.
Moreover, the perfumer who has been Dior's in-house nose since 2006 is deeply committed to making each of his creations a fragrance that can exist differently on each skin. With this Rose Elixir Précieux, he enhances certain bottles of the Collection Privée while allowing the facets of certain bottles to be changed.
The queen of flowers turns to velvet for Dior's Rose Elixir Précieux
For François Demachy, the passion for seeking out the finest raw materials begins with the search for producers and the most remote lands. He does not hesitate to travel very far to find the tonka bean he needed for Fève Délicieuse, or to New Zealand to gather the finest nuggets of ambergris for Ambre Nuit. So there was little doubt about his ability to find the finest of Turkish roses, which would become the precious essence of Rose Elixir Précieux.
Rose Elixir Précieux was composed with essence and absolute of Turkish rose, which is practically a first for someone devoted to Grasse rose. But this Turkish rose is far wilder and will adapt perfectly to the powerful Cologne composed by Annick Ménardo under the direct influence of Hedi Slimane: Bois D'Argent.
Rose Elixir Précieux will thus enhance the iris of Florence in Bois d'Argent and blend gracefully with this honeyed note, offering it a rose that is sweet but far wilder than it lets on…
