Where to buy

A true Proustian madeleine, it draws its inspiration from the designer's childhood memories. It is also dedicated to the female body that Jean-Paul Gaultier takes such pleasure in dressing. For many years now, the couturier has made a habit of transforming it every spring into limited editions. Today, Jean-Paul Gaultier's classic becomes Classique André Edition.

The new urban and colorful bottle of Classique André Edition

To create his new bottle, Jean-Paul Gaultier did not hesitate to call on one of the most influential artists of the moment: André, whose real name is André Saraiva. A star graffiti artist and king of Parisian nightlife, he is an icon in the world of graphic design. This creator can boast of exhibiting his works in the world's greatest contemporary art museums. Very famous in Japan but also in Europe and the United States, he shines through numerous characters, of which Madame A is one of the most emblematic. Today, it is she who appears on Jean-Paul Gaultier's bottle. Classique André Edition is presented in the couturier's famous glass bust. This time, it is decorated with a striped corset, evoking Jean-Paul Gaultier's sailor stripes. The whole is rendered in different shades of pink. The figure of Madame A stands out on the front, giving it a very playful look. As always, Classique André Edition comes in a tin can encircled by a red label bearing the portrait of Madame A. The whole is labeled with #I Love Gaultier. Classique André Edition comes in a 100 ml size and will be available from the end of March 2018.

Jean-Paul Gaultier bets on a luminous freshness

While the surprise is considerable on the aesthetic side, it should be noted that Classique André Edition is less surprising on the scent side. This does not mean, however, that it is any less enjoyable. In reality, it simply retains the same fragrant breath as the previous Eaux Fraîches from Jean-Paul Gaultier in 2016 and 2017, in their respective Betty Boop and Wonder Woman versions. The fragrance of Classique André Edition was created by perfumer Daphné Bugey. It opens with a striking blend of lemon sorbet and ginger. A fresh, lightly peppery scent emerges, softened by an addition of sugar cane. Then, a floral and sun-kissed heart takes over. Classique André Edition by Jean-Paul Gaultier is composed of jasmine, orange blossom and tiare flower. It finally closes with a darker, sensual and syrupy sillage of vanilla, musk and cistus.
