Olivier Polge follows in his father's footsteps and reinterprets Chance Eau Tendre

It is now Olivier Polge who heads Chanel's perfumes, succeeding his own father, Jacques Polge, who has since retired. Since 2013, Olivier Polge has therefore taken over Chanel's olfactory creations. He is considered an extremely talented perfumer, even though perfumery was not initially his calling. After earning his baccalaureate in 1994, Olivier Polge aspired to study art history. It was a simple internship at Chanel that would give rise to his vocation. He trained within the Charabot company, then joined IFF New York (International Flavors & Fragrances) in 1998. It was Dior's Dior Homme, released in 2005, that propelled Olivier Polge into the spotlight. As discreet as his father, Olivier Polge nonetheless inherited his talent. At the heart of Chanel's olfactory creations, he carries on the house's tradition while innovating. Olivier Polge is behind such major olfactory successes as The One for Men by Dolce & Gabbana, Spicebomb by Viktor & Rolf and Only The Brave by Diesel.

The ultra-floral notes of Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Parfum

Here, Olivier Polge decided to reinterpret the Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette created by his father. Just as joyful, Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Parfum is nonetheless meant to be much more floral. The composition opens on a fresh-fruity pairing of grapefruit and quince. Also known as the quince apple, quince has existed for about 4,000 years, even though its origin remains uncertain. One thing is certain: the Greeks loved to eat quince, mainly paired with honey. Widespread in Europe, quince is the fruit of the quince tree, which grows between 3 and 8 meters tall. Quince is highly prized in perfumery for the fresh, fruity, and sweet tones it releases. Deliciously scented, quince can be found at the heart of fragrances such as Mr Burberry by Burberry or Love of Pink by Lacoste. The heart of the Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Parfum composition then evolves toward ultra-floral notes, combining rose and jasmine. Finally, the base is rich with white musks, giving the whole composition an intense and radiant sensuality. While preserving the spirit of the Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette, Olivier Polge managed to reinterpret it into a dazzling, ultra-floral Eau de Parfum.
