Florabotanica

Florabotanica, the fragrance by Balenciaga. If the alluring Kristen Stewart made herself much talked about as an actress in the Twilight trilogy, it seems that the house of Balenciaga also found a role perfectly suited to her: that of ambassador. Moreover, she embodied, in 2012, the alluring perfume Florabotanica.

Where to buy

This latter is a true concentrate of seduction resembling no other perfume on the market. Far from being overly commercial, Florabotanica seems to have succeeded in slipping into a still little-explored gap in order to build a fragrance revisiting the already well-known theme of floral scents.

Balenciaga offers us an enchanted picture

Nicolas Ghesquière was the director of the fashion house Balenciaga from 1997 to December 2012. It is to him that we owe the creation of the perfume Florabotanica. Moreover, he is also the one who decided to steer the house of Balenciaga into the field of perfumery. He describes the creation of his perfume in these terms: There is a real duality in Balenciaga, between classicism and experimentation. For this perfume, I wanted to go further in exploring this paradox, the pure and the enigmatic. A few years ago, I had designed a floral collection. The dresses were covered in flowers, but these flowers were neither charming nor romantic. They structured the entire silhouette architecturally. I wanted the flowers of this perfume to express that same idea. Thus, Florabotanica takes us into an extraordinary garden, offering an unprecedented sensory experience. It is a little as if it brought together, in a single place, multiple species of rare and exotic plants. Florabotanica is the perfume of a woman full of mystery, both seductive and dangerous at once. Florabotanica is a fragrance made of numerous contrasts. It resembles an absolutely sublime yet poisonous flower. The power of Florabotanica is such that resisting it seems impossible.

The floral complexity of Florabotanica

Florabotanica is a perfume created by Olivier Polge and Jean-Christophe Hérault. These two poets of perfumery combined all their creativity to create a juice that is at once floral, woody and green. It clearly aims to revisit the scent of rose. It is worked in an experimental way, which only makes it more bewitching. We are far from the bucolic and romantic image of the traditional rose. This time, it is spiced with carnation, revealing the impertinence of its character. Vetiver, for its part, unveils a darker facet of its personality, while moss and amber reinforce its mysterious side. A touch of mint also freshens up the Florabotanica formula for an especially invigorating result. Thus, Florabotanica is a flower that one never tires of rediscovering, so endearing is its complexity. Likewise, its bottle offers an absolutely sublime design. It is a highly couture glass cube topped with an enormous cylinder plunging partway into its base. It is covered in black and white stripes, a signature dear to the Balenciaga house. Finally, the sides of this bottle are offered in glass lacquered in red or blue, mirroring each other. The idea was to echo the plates found in botanists' laboratories.
