N°19 Poudré

N°19 Eau Poudrée: The Chanel woman, the audacious elegance of noble raw materials from Grasse... At Chanel, one should not think that only N°5 matters! On the contrary, like the luminous and audacious N°19 released in 1970, every number matters and is dressed in elegance for the house created by the sparkling Coco.

Such masterpieces can even afford to be revisited at will, especially when the raw materials grown at the mercy of the winds of the fragrant land of Grasse provide new and sensational olfactory paths... Jacques Polge and Chanel celebrate the second birth of “N°19” in 2011 with its worthy heir “N°19 Eau Poudrée”!

When N°19 dons a delicate musky gown of Pallida iris signed Chanel

The second birth of the legendary “N°19” would be far more than a mere footnote among others; it would become the very subject of the entire communication campaign established in 2011 for the release of “N°19 Eau Poudrée”.

Indeed, powdery fragrances based on iris were on the rise at the release of “N°19 Eau Poudrée” in 2011. So much so that the famous house of Chanel, like the great perfumer Jacques Polge, felt somewhat dispossessed of the creation: I found that many brands had drawn inspiration from N°19, and I wanted to reclaim the territory that belonged to us, recounts the perfumer.

Thus, thanks to this new fragrant composition, Chanel achieved a double feat with a promotional film that traces, with Jacques Polge, the creation of “N°19 Eau Poudrée” while highlighting the famous Pallida iris that the brand is attempting to save from globalization in Grasse.

As for the advertising visuals of “N°19 Eau Poudrée”, they remain true to the free and audacious woman of the 1970s while adopting a white purity reminiscent of the fragrance's new white musks (and of the iris), wrapped in airy, silky green veils...

“N°19 Eau Poudrée” or the reinterpretation of a masterpiece by Polge

It was therefore necessary to innovate by proposing a new accord for “N°19” without disfiguring the audacious masterpiece introduced in the midst of the libertarian revolution. What better than a fragrance, in this case “N°19 Eau Poudrée”, to make use of the fields of flowers in Grasse newly replanted by Chanel, in order to showcase one of the most legendary and luxurious raw materials in perfumery: Pallida iris.

Of course, this famous Pallida iris is the central raw material of this new olfactory masterpiece, which opens with top notes of mandarin, Persian galbanum and green notes to better set off its precious heart. Delightfully floral, the heart notes wrap the citrus freshness of the top notes in the powdery sweetness of Pallida iris and jasmine absolute. Then this soft, cottony cloud of floral scent traces its horizon line in a woody sillage of Haitian vetiver and tonka bean, while exhaling into the magnificent depths of white musks.

To be irreplaceable, one must be different..., declared the sparkling Coco Chanel. And clearly this “N°19 Eau Poudrée” pays her a vibrant tribute of floral and elegant joys. Pallida iris, which already marked “N°19” (Mademoiselle Coco's birthday), reveals the full splendor of its scents thanks to the conductor of its realization, Jacques Polge, who signs this fragrant reorchestration of a great classic with his virtuoso talent.
