N°5 Eau Première
Chanel N°5 Eau Première: Reviving a mythical fragrance! Chanel N°5 was created in 1921 by Ernest Beaux to give shape to Coco Chanel's wildest dreams. A classic among classics, the sparkling and luxuriant N°5 managed to cross eras and decades without aging, but it took only one for young women to turn away from it.

Where to buy
It was therefore decided by Chanel in 2008 to recreate a newer, more sparkling accord of the mythical fragrance, a first composition under the name N°5 Eau Première for sensual and glamorous young women.
Chanel N°5 Eau Première, or Marilyn's glamour offered to young women
While the famous N°5 by Chanel remains one of the best-selling perfumes today since its creation in the 1920s, it has, conversely, little appeal to the new generation of young women, who find it too strongly associated with a lady's perfume for their taste. Chanel and its house perfumer Jacques Polge therefore sought to compose a modernized N°5 that would allow the house to reach this younger target clientele.
By first using Nicole Kidman, a splendid face of the campaign for Chanel in 2008, N°5 Eau Première secured for Chanel a glamorous image while remaining modern and in step with the times. Nicole Kidman, with her powder-pink boa, embodies the innocence and charm of first times that N°5 Eau Première seeks to convey through its luminous scents, just as Gisele Bündchen would do as well, posing nude a few years later in 2015.
What if it were the first time, proclaims one of the very first visuals for N°5 L'Eau Première in 2009. Pared down, clarified, renewing itself while remaining true to itself. The first of all perfumes is now available as an Eau Première. Young women now have a Chanel N°5 entirely dedicated to them.
When Jacques Polge modernizes Chanel's great N°5
In order to introduce young women to the splendors and wonders of the great N°5, it was necessary to preserve both the chypre boldness of the original and the richness of its raw materials, while trying to avoid the aldehydes, the iris or the ylang-ylang. Modern accords had to be recreated without diminishing the splendor of the masterpiece; the legendary bottle itself was also elongated and refined, as if to create continuity with tradition while offering something new.
Jacques Polge managed the feat of preserving this fragrant monument that is N°5 while giving it a divine luminosity and sparkle with L'Eau Première. The top notes of neroli and lemon lead into the aldehydes, which are now lighter and fresher thanks to the airy facets of the neroli. The heart now unfolds toward delicate floral powers of jasmine and rose, delicately punctuated by the sensual ylang-ylang, which takes a rather discreet place in L'Eau Première compared to N°5. Finally, powdery and sun-kissed notes complete the sillage of the young woman wearing L'Eau Première with delicate floral scents of iris, sandalwood, vanilla and white musk.
Luminous, sparkling and intoxicating, L'Eau Première introduces the voice of the new aldehydics, somewhat as Coco Mademoiselle had once revealed the voice of the new chypres. Be that as it may, for everyone, Chanel N°5 Eau Première appears to be a magnificent stylistic exercise, perfected to the highest degree by the great perfumer Jacques Polge.
