Where to buy

For men, the house offered, on the one hand, Eaux (Eau d'Hermès or Eau d'Orange Verte) but also powerful, distinguished fragrances such as Bel-Ami, Equipage or Rocabar.

In 2006, Jean-Claude Ellena wrote a new fragrant chapter in the history of Hermès men's fragrances with Terre d'Hermès and its contrary yet complementary effluvia. As if to continue writing that history, the new in-house Hermès perfumer, Christine Nagel, presented Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver in 2018.

When Christine Nagel imagines the new Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver

When Jean-Claude Ellena began working on the composition that would become Terre d'Hermès, it was first and foremost to finally offer men a long-awaited successor to Rocabar, the house of Hermès's latest masculine novelty. Thus, eight years after the beautiful Rocabar, Terre d'Hermès would offer a raw, ultra-natural and unadorned universe to men eager for Hermès fragrances.
Conceived as an evocation of matter and its transformation, Terre d'Hermès is a fragrance that expresses the alchemical power of the elements. A water between earth and sky, woody, green and mineral. Jean-Claude Ellena on Terre d'Hermès.
How could the new in-house perfumer of the house of Hermès since 2014 offer a successor to this great best seller? Simply by offering something unprecedented with Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver, which, for once, would explore the vegetal power of vetiver and let it burst forth in this beautiful 2018 bottle.

Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver, or the originality of an energetic woody accord linking freshness to warmth

Christine Nagel is not a perfumer who lets herself be guided by trends or by the past, and her fine creation Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver rightly proves it by offering, on the one hand, a vetiver note in an unexpected way and, on the other, by not seeking to resemble previous flankers such as Terre d'Hermès Eau de Parfum or Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche.
Even at my age, I still feel the wonder, the freshness of a young girl. Moreover, mastering the basics allows me to dose things more, Christine Nagel tells us about her fragrant creations for Hermès.

Thus Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver uses the same freshness explored by Ellena in 2006 through grapefruit, bergamot and pink pepper notes. On the other hand, the vetiver introduces the heart geranium by pairing with it. This unique and rare pairing lets us discover the olfactory power of vetiver as never before, the strength of its sap, its leaves. Finally, amber woods lend this energetic and luminous vetiver the sensual vigor of Terre d'Hermès men, creating an unforgettable sillage for this quite original Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver.

The advertising

Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vétiver gets its own ad

Terre d'Hermès came to light in 2006, symbolizing nature in all its purity and preciousness. This green and mineral juice quickly became a staple of men's perfumery. In 2014, Terre d'Hermès was transformed into a fresher water. Today, taking the opposite direction, it warms up with woody flavors. The new arrival in the range is called Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver. So, how about discovering its advertisement to better grasp its universe?

Hermès takes us to an unexplored land

Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver is revealed in a short advertisement, both simple and captivating. It lasts only about twenty seconds but is enough to sweep us away to a breathtaking elsewhere. The landscape that unfolds is that of an arid plain, barely lit by a few glimmers of sunlight. The horizon stretches as far as the eye can see. The silhouette of a man takes shape, as if he were standing before nature to better observe it. From then on, Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver seems to draw its source from the heart of the elements. It invites us to refocus on the essential, on our nurturing earth.

Clément Sibony still the face of the Terre d'Hermès collection

The man in question, even though he is not shown directly, is easily identifiable. It is, once again, Clément Sibony, already previously named as the face of Terre d'Hermès. This French actor, born in Paris, is usually cast in seductive roles. Thus, he has already starred alongside Clotilde Courau in Promenons-nous dans les bois or alongside Isabelle Carré in L'Envol, before seducing Forestier in Un fil à la patte. Today, however, he appears alone before the elements. He seems to draw all his strength from them, as if his natural charisma were heightened tenfold under the intoxicating aura of Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver.

Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver, toward a new, more woody masculinity

Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver is a brand-new composition, quite different from its predecessors. It must be said that it is not the work of the same perfumer as before. The very first Terre d'Hermès was designed by Jean-Claude Ellena. Christine Nagel brings her own signature to it here and heightens its green aspect. The ingredients of the very first version are completely reorchestrated. Vetiver takes on much greater prominence and becomes the highlight of this creation. It appears right from the top notes of this fragrance. Black pepper, on the other hand, has disappeared in favor of a greener Sichuan pepper. The freshness of this juice comes through in the liveliness of the bergamot. As always, Terre d'Hermès Eau Intense Vetiver is presented to us in the iconic H bottle of Hermès, a staple of the collection, both contemporary and yet still rooted in the house's tradition.
