Eau de Basilic Pourpre
Eau de Basilic Pourpre, the new cologne from Hermès. Initially, Hermès was not a perfumery house at all. It was a saddler and harness maker specialized in leatherwork. Then, over the course of its history, Hermès decided to gradually expand its scope of activity. It was in 1979 that the house finally affirmed its status as a perfumer, by creating its first Eau de Cologne.

Where to buy
Since then, this has been a tradition upheld by Hermès year after year. In 2022, its catalog is once again enriched with a newcomer. This time, the emphasis is on the Mediterranean, with Hermès's Eau de Basilic Pourpre.
The long tradition of Hermès Colognes
The house of Hermès has always been very attached to tradition. Now, for many years, men and women perfumed themselves only with eaux de Cologne. The olfactory imprint of these perfumes is therefore forever etched in collective memory. It is thus quite naturally that Hermès decided to draw inspiration from this to create a collection. It was initiated in 1979 with the creation of Eau d’Orange Verte. Since then, the collection of Hermès Colognes has gradually grown, and each of the fragrances that make it up is built around one raw material and one color. Once again, Hermès's Eau de Basilic Pourpre aims to bring people together beyond gender, age, culture and trends.
The Mediterranean aura of Hermès's Eau de Basilic Pourpre
As the name of this perfume immediately suggests, Hermès's Eau de Basilic Pourpre has a very aromatic breath, straight from the Mediterranean basin. Likewise, it should be noted that the appearance of this perfume, at the dawn of the summer season, comes at the right time. Indeed, when the mercury rises, this is a very refreshing fragrance. A true concentrate of purity, it ennobles basil and makes it airier. The result is a creation that is at times woody, more spicy or more aromatic, designed for men and women alike. Eau de Basilic Pourpre is a perfume that is at once lively, very natural and infinitely chic. More specifically, its olfactory pyramid opens with top notes of bergamot, considered one of the most sparkling citrus fruits. Basil, for its part, appears in its heart, alongside a more peppery geranium. Gradually, Hermès's Eau de Basilic Pourpre gains in persistence. It ends with a lasting base of patchouli and spices, leaving very sensual notes on skin for hours.
The emblematic lantern bottle of the Hermès house
Like all the perfumes in the Hermès Colognes collection, Eau de Basilic Pourpre comes in Hermès's iconic lantern bottle. Indeed, to recall the house's heritage, it is inspired by the shape of the lanterns of carriages of days gone by. To echo the basil it contains, it is now adorned with a very bold and intense green hue. The result is a luminous bottle, available with either a screw cap or a spray. So, what is stopping you from treating yourself to a refreshing dive into the heart of the Mediterranean? The aromatic herbs are just waiting to spice up your daily life!
