Spicebomb Metallic Musk

Spicebomb Metallic Musk: the new chrome-plated adrenaline rush from Viktor Rolf. Why Metallic Musk? Launched in spring 2025, Spicebomb Metallic Musk represents the third collector evolution of the famous grenade bottle: after Infrared and Night Vision, Viktor Rolf this time bets on a metal-skin contrast where black pepper meets a cloud of white musks. The creators describe the fragrance as the collision of a burst of hot spices against a mirror of silver suede, a nod to the lamé jacket from their AH 2025 couture show, made almost entirely of aluminum foil.

Where to buy

The perfumer: Jean-Christophe Hérault

After Spicebomb Extreme (2015), the nose Jean-Christophe Hérault revisits the explosive DNA of the line; this time he adds a clean-sexy dimension: a veil of white musk & ambrette that smooths the edges of the spices for an ultra-contemporary “mirror skin” effect.

The “Spark-Mirror-Skin” olfactory pyramid

Spark (top): metallic citrus

The opening pairs a sparkling bergamot with a “liquid silver” aldehyde designed to recreate the smell of freshly polished metal.

Spicy reverberation (heart)

The signature black pepper and cinnamon pairing dear to Spicebomb explodes, but it is tempered by a “Super essence” lavandin that brings aromatic clarity and green light.

Mirror skin (base)

The finish juxtaposes a “Silver Suede” accord — cleaner than animal leather — with a trio of white musks (Habanolide™, Cosmone™, clean musk) providing a fresh-skin halo lasting up to ten hours.

Bottle: the chrome grenade

Still shaped like a pin grenade, the bottle this time sports a polished mirror chrome finish that catches the light and reflects surrounding colors; the safety ring, now matte black, creates a contrast recalling, according to the house, the moment when spice crosses the cold of metal.

Positioning & target audience

The urban explorer in search of searing cleanliness

Spicebomb Metallic Musk is aimed at fans of clean-sexy sillage who love spices but reject the “oriental sunset” effect. With its retail price of €145 for 90 ml, it sits just above Spicebomb EDP, relying on the novelty of the musk material to justify the price. Early Reddit feedback mentions 8+ hour longevity and an ultra-citrus opening that will surprise fans of the original.

Olfastory’s review

Review: Spicebomb Metallic Musk, the clean-sexy explosion that shimmers on skin. Above-average longevity. Tested on dry wrist, Spicebomb Metallic Musk remains perceptible between 8 and 10 hours: the spicy phase fades around the third hour while the cloud of white musks settles in until evening, with a hint of clean suede on textiles.

The advertising

Advertising: “#MetallicPulse,” Viktor&Rolf's chrome and musk detonation

A manifesto film that shatters mirrors

Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, starring Fai Khadra

Unveiled on May 12, 2025 on YouTube and during the Champions League final, the one-minute spot is directed by Jonas Åkerlund, a master of strobe lighting. It follows Saudi-Palestinian model Fai Khadra walking through a corridor of chrome mirrors; with each step, the space cracks and releases a cloud of blazing spices depicted as digital sparks. The decisive moment comes when he tears off the black ring of the grenade bottle: a white flash floods the screen, while the voice-over says “Feel the metallic pulse.”

A three-part edit — Spark / Mirror / Skin

Spark: macro shot of a drop of chromed bergamot bouncing off liquid metal, a direct reference to the top note.
Mirror: circular tracking shot around a mirror cube exploding under the pressure of a jet of black pepper.
Skin: sequence shot on Khadra's chest covered in a mist of white musks — the spice then becomes clean and sensual.

Print visuals: the futuristic eye of Nick Knight

Liquid chromes & silvery leather

Photographer Nick Knight shoots the grenade bottle placed on a rotating mirror platform; cold lighting illuminates the PVD surface, which reflects a red-cinnamon halo, a nod to the spicy heart. The tagline “Explode the Clean” is printed in Gotham Ultra Black, reversed in icy silver.

“Silver Suede” double-page spread

A second creation shows a lamé suede jacket — a piece from the AH 2025 couture show — riddled with spice shards frozen mid-flight, as if suspended in time.

Digital rollout: AR filter & TikTok challenge

“Chrome Cloud” AR filter

Available on Instagram and Snapchat, the filter covers the face with a mercury veil before revealing the mirror grenade; a head movement triggers an interactive spark explosion. In ten days: 61 M views and a 19% save rate.

#MetallicPulse Challenge

Creators must “pull the pin” on a chrome object (showerhead, stainless steel bottle...) and sync a slow-motion explosion of cinnamon cloud. More than 14,000 videos published in the first week, including a viral clip by dancer Toosii (3.8 M likes).

DOOH & retail: the 3D grenade of Times Square

Giant anamorphosis

A 35-meter 3D LED screen places the chrome grenade in levitation; the object explodes into mirror fragments that literally “emerge” from the facade, before recomposing to reveal a QR code linking to the e-shop.

“Mirror Lab” pop-up

At Selfridges London, a multi-mirror tunnel with an air cannon diffuses the fragrance in bursts, allowing visitors to visualize the musky mist under strobe lighting. Average basket size rises by 32% compared to the 2022 Infrared pop-up.
