Terre d'Hermès Eau Très Fraîche

Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche, a scent that carries you far away, very far away. The story of Hermès is that of a saddler turned leather goods maker then perfumer. It was Thierry Hermès who founded the house of the same name in 1837. The house of Hermès quickly made a name for itself in the world of luxury equestrian goods.

Where to buy

It was Charles-Émile, Thierry’s son, who steered the house of Hermès toward leather goods at the end of the 19th century. The diversity of the brand’s activities never stopped growing, and Hermès created its first perfume in 1951, “Eau d’Hermès.” In 2006, the house of Hermès unveiled “Terre d’Hermès,” a very masculine perfume between earth and sea. Then, in 2014, Hermès offered a much fresher variation, “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche.”

The freshness of nature

In 2006, Hermès presented “Terre d’Hermès,” a fragrance that reconciles earth, sea and air with man. Intoxicating effluvia inspired by the beauty of nature. If “Terre d’Hermès” is a true narrative around the transformation and power of the elements, “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche” does not depart from that rule, it simply wants to be much fresher. As Jean-Claude Ellena, the renowned perfumer in charge of “Terre d’Hermès” and its variations, put it, to smell the earth, lying on one’s back, eyes turned to the sky, that is the olfactory rendering of “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche.” This eau très fraîche is a new crossing of the elements through the encounter of biting, impertinent water.

The inspiration behind Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche

The composition is complex and worked so as to produce effluvia of an exacting simplicity. Here, the return to the source is both inevitable and long awaited. Turning to gushing water, “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche” draws its strength from it. The fragrance opens on aldehydic notes, paired with the bitterness of Seville orange. The heart of “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche” is composed of a blend of mineral notes and spicy notes. The base pairs woody notes with oakmoss… A journey imbued with strength and poetry. As for the bottle, it takes up the codes of its predecessor. Designed for Hermès by Philippe Mousquet, the bottle combines strength and character. The condensed square shape of the bottle expresses the balance and the assertive character of the composition. The base of the bottle, molded in the shape of an “H,” leaves a visible imprint on every mind.

Eight years after “Terre d’Hermès,” the brand offers a variation with “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche.” This composition shares the same structure as its predecessor. “Terre d’Hermès, Eau Très Fraîche” aims to be irresistibly fresh, as though swept over by the sea. The mineral and spicy notes leave behind an unforgettable sillage.
