Sauvage Eau de Toilette

Sauvage is a Dior fragrance composed by François Demachy and launched in 2015. Despite its name, it is neither a new version nor a replacement of Eau Sauvage, created by Edmond Roudnitska in 1966: the two belong to distinct lines and are sold side by side. Its signature rests on a Reggio de Calabre bergamot retained in high proportion and on ambroxan, which carries a woody, mineral sillage. The line has expanded up to the 2021 elixir.

Sauvage is an Eau de Toilette that draws attention the moment one crosses its path. Created in 2015, it is not merely a perfume. It is above all a manifesto of freedom, inspired by a man stripped bare, in search of his own emotions and his identity. Olfactively, Sauvage Eau de Toilette is a woody fougère that owes its existence to perfumer François Demachy. At once refreshing, elegant, and incisive, this essence draws on desert landscapes, where a man's gaze loses itself against the horizon, as if to better refocus on himself. In its sobriety, the bottle likewise reflects a certain calm. It gives off an immediate serenity, not without refinement.

The nocturnal color of the Sauvage bottle

The bottle of Dior's Sauvage is clearly dominated by a dark hue. At its top, the cap favors an opaque black. Its cylindrical glass base, meanwhile, moves between black and midnight blue, though its base proves lighter and brighter. By choosing such a color palette, Dior evokes the night, a fitting moment to release one's wild instinct and let oneself be guided by a certain primal impulse. Moreover, Dior's advertisement is clearly in keeping with this desire for nocturnal freedom. In it, Johnny Depp indeed moves through the night, and it is precisely at that moment that Dior's campaign begins.
It should also be noted that blue is the most widely liked color on the planet. It thus expresses a certain ambition on Dior's part to conquer the world. With it, Sauvage Eau de Toilette instantly becomes an essence of universal reach. Blue evokes all at once the sea, the depths of the ocean, or the expanse of the sky. It therefore speaks particularly to all men, wherever they may be.
Finally, black is always synonymous with elegance. Whether midnight blue or black, these two colors are the most frequently worn on men's tuxedos. The Sauvage Eau de Toilette bottle thus proves particularly chic.

The other elements of the Dior bottle

While dark hues dominate, it should be noted that the Sauvage Eau de Toilette bottle features a clear, transparent base. Thus a certain gradient appears on its glass. From there, a glimmer of hope appears on the horizon. This is also meant to evoke the very clean and refreshing side of this perfume. Moreover, the names Dior and Sauvage are inscribed in very clear lettering, as is the brand's logo, which appears at the top of the cap. Designed down to the smallest detail, this bottle is also finely engraved on its spray bottle. Thus it features the Dior logo twice. Its cylindrical shape, for its part, makes it easy to hold. Sober and clean, the Sauvage Eau de Toilette bottle proves particularly on-trend and timeless. There is no doubt about it: it was designed to stand the test of time.
