New Journalist Fresh Ink is a men’s eau de parfum from Michael Malul, released in 2026 in the Esquire collection. A more gourmand take on New Journalist, it pairs lemon, mandarin and brown sugar with a heart of leather, lavender and caramelized patchouli, over a base of cedar, sandalwood and tonka bean.

Since 2024, Michael Malul has been developing the Esquire Fragrance Collection, a men’s line created under license from the American magazine Esquire, with the agency IMG. Its first four fragrances, American Novelist, Modern Poet, New Journalist and Editor in Chief, pay tribute to the magazine’s literary history.

New Journalist takes its name from the figures of New Journalism, such as Tom Wolfe. At its launch, it was described as a blue, aquatic fragrance with notes of apple leaf, blue lavender and sandalwood. Cartoonist and Composer joined the collection in 2025.

Fresh Ink arrives in 2026 as a variation on New Journalist. The house presents it as the portrait of an everyman reimagined, more magnetic and more indulgent, and attributes its composition to Alexandra Monet, whom it also credits for New Journalist.
