Sauvage Elixir is the most concentrated version of the line, composed by François Demachy for Dior in 2021 in the manner of a liqueur. The house blends the freshness of Sauvage with a heart of spices, a Nyons PDO lavender and rich woods; licorice, sandalwood, patchouli and Haitian vetiver hold its base.
The notes announced at launch place cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom and grapefruit at the top, lavender at the heart, licorice, sandalwood, amber, patchouli and Haitian vetiver at the base.
Dior now sums up the fragrance as a spicy grapefruit, a heady lavender and soft, velvety woods. Its descriptions also mention warm spices, a French lavender with facets of vanilla and licorice, and a blend of patchouli, vetiver and amber wood.
What changes in the line
Unlike the eau de toilette and the eau de parfum, which open on bergamot, Sauvage Elixir places the spices at the top and entrusts its sweetness to licorice rather than vanilla. Ambroxan, which the house associates with the eau de toilette, does not appear among its announced notes.
