Pleats Please

Issey Miyake launched Pleats Please in July 2012 in France, Spain, Switzerland and Asia; Japan, Italy and Germany received it in 2013, as did the United States according to Now Smell This. The eau de toilette was the brand’s fourth women’s fragrance in twenty-two years.

A tribute to pleats

The fragrance borrows its name and spirit from Pleats Please, Issey Miyake’s line of pleated clothing. The brand wanted it playful, happy and optimistic, like those light garments that follow the body’s movement.

A second franchise

For Beauté Prestige International, the Shiseido subsidiary in charge of the brand’s fragrances, the stakes were high. Rémy Gomez, at its helm, told BW Confidential in 2012 of his ambition to make it a second franchise alongside L’Eau d’Issey, then twenty years old, and to win new customers.

Aurélien Guichard

The composition is the work of Aurélien Guichard, a perfumer at Givaudan. Osmoz classes Pleats Please among fruity florals.

The eau de toilette came out in 30, 50 and 100 ml bottles.
