Pleats Please is the fruity floral eau de toilette Issey Miyake launched in July 2012, signed by Aurélien Guichard of Givaudan. It pays tribute to the designer’s line of pleated clothing: nashi pear at the top, peony and sweet pea at the heart, cedar, patchouli, vanilla and white musks in the base, in a bottle cut as a polyhedron.
At its launch, Pleats Please was organized in three tiers: nashi pear at the top, peony and sweet pea at the heart, cedar, patchouli, vanilla and white musks in the base. Osmoz adds fruity notes and woody notes.
Nashi pear
Nashi, a fruit from Asia, is something between an apple and a pear. Victoria, on Bois de Jasmin, smells a juicy apple and an orange in it, crisp and icy as if straight from the refrigerator.
Peony and sweet pea
Peony and sweet pea form the floral heart, which Osmoz lifts with an animalic white-flower facet. Victoria detects a pale, honeyed rose and a jasmine that is anything but too clean.
A woody, musky base
Atlas cedar, patchouli, vanilla and white musks make up the base. Robin, on Now Smell This, notes a touch of cinnamon and describes an increasingly powdery base.
