Aurélien Guichard comes from a line of perfumers. His father, Jean Guichard, was the director of the Givaudan perfumery school. For Aurélien Guichard, every scent rests on everyday creativity and imagination. He considers the perfumer's craft to be one of sharing, and when asked about his vision of tomorrow's perfume, he states that the creative possibilities are infinite… Tomorrow's perfume will resemble nothing ever smelled before. Pleats Please, between floral notes and fruity notes
Aurélien Guichard thus wanted to create an ultra-joyful and dynamic fragrance. Pleats Please opens with the fruity flavor of nashi. Nashi is a Japanese fruit situated between pear and apple. Originally grown in Asia, nashi was introduced to France in the 1980s. More caloric and richer in vitamin C than pear, nashi is eaten peeled of its thick skin. It is eaten raw, crunched or in a salad, cooked into a compote or a coulis. In perfumery, the scent of nashi is close to that of pear, tangy, fruity and sweet. The heart of Pleats Please is rather floral, dominated by peony, paired with rose, sweet pea and indole, a slightly animalic floral note naturally present in jasmine. Peony is a large, highly fragrant flower with a generous bloom. In China, peony has been cultivated since the 8th century and symbolizes feminine beauty and love. Since peony is a mute flower, it is reproduced identically in the laboratory. It offers very light, rosy and airy floral aromas. Finally, the base of Pleats Please is deep and rich in woody notes. It combines patchouli, oakmoss, cedar, vanilla and white musks, lending the whole composition a delicate sensuality. Shaped like a multi-faceted polyhedron in a pinkish orange color, the bottle gives the impression of a crumpled fabric floating in the wind. The name of the perfume is written in red in 3D. It is topped with a white cabochon shaped like a flower calyx.
