Nina

Nina: A candy apple just waiting to be bitten into! How to follow up on the house’s bestseller L’Air du Temps, the Nina Ricci fragrance of gentle, romantic women? The answer was to keep offering them the same dreamlike, romantic world while modernizing the fragrances

With L’Air du Temps, the Nina Ricci fragrance house entered the very exclusive circle of great perfumers as early as the 1950s. Over the years, Nina Ricci fragrances have evolved, and while they have kept their beautiful floral scents, they increasingly seek to appeal to a rather young audience. Nina is one of those fragrances that sets out to win over young women by telling them a beautiful, fragrant story...

A lovely fairy-tale gourmand fragrance signed by perfumers Olivier Cresp and Jacques Cavallier

The story of Nina by Nina Ricci reads like a fairy tale. A modern fairy tale in which the princess seeks surprise and temptation through a fragrance as gourmand as it is sensual, as sparkling as it is delicately floral. The house of Nina Ricci knows particularly well how to speak to young women, and it will prove this once again with Nina, then with the darker Luna.

To compose the scents of this fairy-tale fragrance, Nina Ricci did not hesitate to turn to two great perfumers of the moment: Olivier Cresp, master of gourmand scents, and Jacques Cavallier, a lover of delicate flowers. Together they composed Nina using their favorite scents, in particular Olivier Cresp’s famous apple. A lively, sparkling apple that cannot help but recall one of the perfumer’s earliest successes: Light Blue.

As for Jacques Cavallier, he added his touch of natural flowers to Olivier Cresp’s brilliant gourmand notes. Flowers are eternal, and Nina proves it beautifully! It is difficult to launch a major feminine fragrance without flowers, all the more so as they offer an extraordinarily rich palette. What other family can claim such olfactory abundance?

Nina, when the candy apple fragrance turns to velvet...

Nina could be seen as something of an L’Air du Temps that has traveled through the decades to match as closely as possible the desires of today’s young women. Thus, while floral scents remain, as we have seen, forever symbols of eternal femininity, gourmand scents, fully in step with this new millennium, seem essential to win over young women.

And Nina plays beautifully on this blend of very womanly, rather traditional scents and much more regressive accords, including green apple, the true star of Nina’s heart. Peonies, roses and jasmine, traditional scents that nonetheless blend wonderfully with the lovely fruity, sugary modernity of the top, heart and base.

Indeed, the two perfumers did not hesitate to dust the lovely Nina bottle with a few invigorating citrus notes right from the start of this fantastical journey. Then praline and red fruits envelop the precious light of the heart’s flowers. Finally, the very sugary caramel and vanilla let themselves be wrapped beautifully in the soft, delicate cottony depths of white musk.

With its flamboyant candy-apple-shaped bottle and its sparkling, bold, sugary notes, Nina has, for a decade, captivated young women who are falsely ingenuous, full of grace and spontaneity.
