Dior launched Midnight Poison in 2007, the fifth fragrance in the Poison line, composed by Jacques Cavallier and Olivier Cresp with François Demachy. Inspired by Cinderella, this woody oriental opens on bergamot and mandarin, sets a dark rose and patchouli in the heart and ends on amber, vanilla and ambroxan.
Robin of Now Smell This does not love it and ranks it far behind Hypnotic Poison, but finds it well made, the best recent Dior to her taste, and unfeminine enough for a man to wear.

Now Smell This, well made but not beloved
On August 17, 2007, Robin admitted she did not love Midnight Poison and found it far from the brilliant Hypnotic Poison. Still, she thought it well made, better than anything else Dior had released lately, and would happily wear it if a bottle fell from the sky.
She nevertheless expected many women to find it not young or feminine enough, despite Eva Green’s enthusiasm: a man, she wrote, could easily wear it. In her view, there is nothing intense about it once the top notes have faded.
