As its name suggests, this is a new variation on the iconic La Petite Robe Noire, which first appeared much earlier, in 2012.
At the start of 2021, the house of Guerlain has just announced the release of a new limited edition in the La Petite Robe Noire collection. More gourmand and addictive, this juice is called La Petite Robe Noire Nectar and owes its existence to the house's official perfumer, Thierry Wasser. More specifically, it was conceived as a generous bouquet of roses, wrapped in honey, for an even more joyful and sweeter rendering than before. While its fragrance evolves, its bottle also features some new elements, even though it draws heavily on the visual of its predecessors. Here is a breakdown of its design.
The new bottle of La Petite Robe Noire Nectar
La Petite Robe Noire Nectar has a visual very close to that of its predecessors. It thus remains faithful to the entire La Petite Robe Noire collection by Guerlain and clearly marks its membership in this great family. As a reminder, this bottle first appeared at the beginning of the twentieth century, for the creation of the fragrances Mitsouko and L'Heure Bleue, two iconic Guerlain scents. Then, when La Petite Robe Noire was released in 2012, it was modernized by Serge Mansau, a talented designer. Some elements already present in the past reappear in its visual. It is notably recognizable by its iconic comma-shaped shoulders, as well as its cap resembling an inverted heart. Its glass base forms a thick, robust, and refined cube, on which the silhouette of La Petite Robe Noire is drawn. In its La Petite Robe Noire Nectar version, it sports a plunging neckline, for an even more seductive style than ever. The name La Petite Robe Noire, meanwhile, appears in white, cheerful script, as if written directly by hand on the front. The whole is topped with a chrome-plated metal spray nozzle, while its neck is further adorned with a beige silk ribbon bearing the name Guerlain. Its color, meanwhile, changes radically from that of its predecessors. With La Petite Robe Noire Nectar, pink disappears entirely, in favor of a smoky orange gradient.
Who is Serge Mansau, creator of the bottle for La Petite Robe Noire Nectar by Guerlain?
To design the bottle of La Petite Robe Noire, it should be recalled that the house of Guerlain enlisted one of the greatest designers of our time, Serge Mansau. Having passed away only a few months ago, he devoted his entire life to the creation of works of art. This sculptor left his mark on more than fifty years of perfumery history and worked for the greatest houses, such as Hermès, Givenchy, Kenzo, and Cartier. No one truly knows how many bottles Serge Mansau created over the course of his career. Some credit him with 250, others 300, and some go as far as 650. A true jack-of-all-trades, he also created containers for the spirits industry as well as furniture. A fascinating and passionate creator, he left behind an immense testament to his talent, including the bottle of La Petite Robe Noire Nectar.
