Ambre Samar
Ambre Samar Fact sheet A lunar eclipse captured in fragrance After Neroli Dorado and Musc Noble, the house Guerlain expands its Absolus Allegoria collection with Ambre Samar, a unisex Eau de Parfum launched in spring 2025. Inspired by the vision of a red moon rising over burning sand dunes, the creation signs a powerful chiaroscuro contrast between dark curls of incense and the blazing brilliance of an amber-honey accord. The perfumer Delphine Jelk thus imagines a light-on-darkness juice: dark, smoky, mysterious, then suddenly caressing, bathed in golden reflections.

The creative idea
In the Guerlain imagination, Samar evokes a city on the Incense Route. At night, a rare phenomenon occurs: the moon takes on a crimson hue, casting purple halos over the olibanum smoke. Delphine Jelk captures this vision and builds a crescendo pyramid: resinous frankincense and toasted almond for the darkness; a ruby-colored amber-davana heart for the burst of light; then a tonka-benzoin kiss that clings to the skin like a gentle ember until dawn.

Who is it for?
Ambre Samar speaks to lovers of complex ambers — women or men — who appreciate smoky and gourmand facets without excessive sweetness. The incense-spice opening sits readily on a suede jacket, while the vanilla-resin base softens on woolen scarves. Ideal for those aged 25 to 55 seeking a sophisticated nighttime sillage, capable of dressing a black suit or a burgundy satin dress.
Bottle: the bee dons a purple shadow
The iconic Abeille bottle is dressed in a gradient anthracite-to-plum-red glass; the honeycomb dome lets the glow of the ruby amber juice filter through, evoking the lunar eclipse. The hexagonal label is speckled with rose gold, while the cabochon is adorned with a thin black cord — a symbol of incense smoke. (Technical details and the recycled glass rate will appear in the Bottle page.)
Strategic stakes
• Revival of smoky gourmand amber: while sweet vanillas dominate, Guerlain offers a spicier, more resinous and unisex amber. • Measurable sustainability: 93% natural ingredients, low-carbon beet alcohol, 200 ml refills. • Celestial storytelling: the eclipse metaphor fuels a powerful visual narrative — chiaroscuro photography, “Red Moon” social media filter. • Signature sillage: the incense-tonka duo stands out clearly from the other Absolus Allegoria, enriching the range with a darker proposition for nighttime.
