Gabrielle is a perfume created by Olivier Polge, Chanel's exclusive perfumer since 2015. He succeeded his father, the talented and highly renowned Jacques Polge, Chanel's official nose from 1978 to 2015. Far from having been given the position through favoritism, Olivier Polge owes his success solely to his own talent. In his forties, he now enjoys the unanimous recognition of his peers. They agree that he is one of the most talented figures in perfumery worldwide today. Olivier Polge is a sensitive man, both bold and discreet. He admits to being rather romantic at heart but increasingly dares to assert himself in each of his creations. Thus, combining unparalleled emotion with considerable boldness, he manages to create truly fascinating perfumes. In our view, it is precisely this blending of genres that is found in the Gabrielle fragrance. Olivier Polge explains his source of inspiration in these terms: he chose these ingredients [that make up Gabrielle's formula] because they are part of the house's vocabulary. He believes these ingredients must express something true and that they match Gabrielle Chanel's personality. […] When he created this perfume, he says, he did not know how it would be received and used by customers. He likes to think they will make something very personal out of it.

So, what juice might the sumptuous Gabrielle bottle contain? It revolves mainly around a white flowers accord. This enormous bouquet is then surrounded by fruity, animalic and woody notes. Gabrielle opens with a fresh, candied and tangy mandarin flavor. Grapefruit comes to balance out the sweet breath of this first ingredient with its bitter and somewhat sulfurous peel. Redcurrant also makes this opening more sparkling and invigorating. Then, Gabrielle lets all its femininity and romanticism come through. Its heart brings together several airy flowers. Tuberose here releases a honeyed, waxy and creamy scent. It is accompanied by the powdery and somewhat spicy character of ylang-ylang. Jasmine makes the whole more opulent while orange blossom illuminates the ensemble with its Mediterranean flavor. Finally, sandalwood wraps Gabrielle in a smooth, milky smokiness. Musk also makes the whole more carnal. Its animalic breath suddenly transforms Gabrielle into a true femme fatale.
