As striking and charming ambassadors of Italy, Dolce & Gabbana wanted this Dolce fragrance to be a vibrant tribute to Sicily, the homeland of Domenico Dolce. Dolce is a scent of remembrance meant to be green and lively, yet also burning and ardent like the face of sweet Italian women.

A fragrance of Italy breathed by Dolce & Gabbana

There may have been a time when, as designers became famous, they ended up forgetting their roots, their memories and their deep aspirations, blending instead into what marketing targets desired, but this is absolutely not the case for the duo of creators behind Dolce & Gabbana. In fact, they lead a style entirely their own, that of dolce vita. Naturally, when it comes to creating a fragrance, it must exude Italy and dolce vita!

From the sweet, floral, light and fruity fragrance to the sublime face of the campaign Kate King, we will travel to Sicily through Dolce by Dolce & Gabbana. And yet the beautiful brunette who has embodied the image of Dolce since 2014 is not Italian but Canadian! Her face, however, along with her very “femme fatale” poses, cannot help but recall the refined elegance of a Claudia Cardinale or a Sophia Loren, who are indeed very Italian!

The visual for Dolce is therefore imbued with this Italian woman with a powerful, languid gaze, crowned with multiple white flowers. As for the advertising for Dolce, it highlights the modesty and joy of sunny harvest days in Palermo, where the man prefers to win the fiery gaze of his “bellissima” with a humble orange blossom. An orange blossom that we will have the pleasure of finding again in Dolce...

A new amaryllis for a Dolce as sweet as Sicily

From the beauty of the bottle to the sweet floral fragrance, Dolce brings Sicily within reach of the nose! Its charmingly vintage bottle and frosted glass finish evoke the memory of an apothecary vial. As for the precious flower on the cap, it cannot help but recall the traditional sugar-paste flowers made by Sicilian pastry chefs, the dolce, or rather dolci, the very sweet cakes.

This is the image of Sicily that I carry deep within me, and the one I have infused into this delicate fragrance, states Domenico Gabbana about Dolce.

This beautiful Italian gourmand quality opens with notes of neroli flower and papaya flowers, giving Dolce a most pleasant sweet and exotic opening from the very start. The white flowers then form a graceful and subtle heart around notes of water lily, white narcissus and white amaryllis. Finally, the sensuality of this beautiful Italian fragrance asserts itself through precious amber woods and sandalwood wrapped in the softness of white musks.

The nobility of the soul, the elegance of everyday gestures, the joy of sharing between generations and the natural perfection of a single white flower. This is the image I hold of Sicily. An image immortalized by this delicate fragrance, states Domenico Dolce.
