L.12.12 Blanc Eau de Toilette

Lacoste files L.12.12 Blanc among the woody aromatics. Wikiparfum classifies it among the aromatic fougères, with a citrus nuance, and names rosemary, grapefruit, cardamom, vetiver, and suede.

Top, heart, and base

Lacoste now gives this breakdown: grapefruit and cardamom in the top; tuberose and ylang-ylang in the heart; vetiver and suede in the base. The notes are classified identically here.

The notes at launch

In 2011, the launch presentation also listed rosemary and cedar leaf in the top, and leather and cedar in the base. These notes remain in the prose, since the house no longer names them in its pyramid.

What the label declares

Lacoste’s list runs to thirty-two ingredients, from alcohol to farnesol. It cites several essential oils: bitter orange peel, patchouli, eucalyptus, ylang-ylang, and Virginia cedar.

The ylang-ylang announced in the heart thus appears on the label under its botanical name, Cananga odorata, as does the cedar, which the house no longer cites among the notes. There is no colorant and no UV filter.

A shorter version of the list, reduced to fourteen ingredients, carries none of these essential oils. Neither list contains lilial or lyral.
